Thanks all once again, and VERY positive thoughts for Gaynor – hope you’re on the mend. My area of interest in Durham has, so far, been the Northern section and the city itself. So, Waldridge, Sacriston, Witton Gilbert, Nettlesworth (where I’m from), Stanley and Lanchester have been where most of my relatives have turned up. Durham seems to have good genealogy resources and I’ve been able to find a lot of info. My paternal Gt Grandmother was Scottish, I believe from Aberdeen but haven’t managed to confirm 100% - got some anomalies there. Paternal names are Robinson, Hawkins, Donaldson and Cummings. On my Mams side I have Hunter, Embleton, Bloomfield and Doney all from Durham but I have a note that the Doneys were originally Cornish, so starting to look there right now. A question for the Durham folks… what happened to Blackhouse? It was a green field where there used to be houses when I drove by in March 04, it’s on the main road between Edmondsley and Stanley. My Grandma used to live there! I didn’t realize gr had kept my old membership number, I can see how that caused some confusion, but I can guarantee you I’m genuine; I had been looking at these boards off and on this week while I was updating my tree etc, and I did notice some “interesting” posts to say the least and almost thought twice about posting myself! I’ll definitely be sticking around, when I first signed up there were less than 10,000 names, I nearly fell off my chair when I saw 24 million! Another inch of snow tonight but it at least it has warmed up a bit. The high today was –4C, Christmas Day was –16C!! And for those interested, I’m five hours behind the UK. Have a good weekend everyone and happy searching. RG

Kaylene!! Who do you think you are calling a looney?? :-0 I may be mad but I'm not looney!! Well, not all day anyway. Welcome newbie racing girl. PTFG means positive thoughts for Gaynor, a member of the boards who is fighting an illness. Jacky :-)

Thanks for all the kind words, I need to clarify a bit here... I initially joined GR right after it started but found nothing of use at that time. I was finding other info I needed on other sites and let this membership lapse. I rejoined last Dec, and so many people are now here that I've been contacted twice already so it's better for me now. Glenys - your kids are welcome to the 6" of snow we got yesterday, tell them to come and get it! Christine Houselander - Have American friends with that surname. Fred - ptfg?? wtf I know, but what is that? To everyone else, thatnks for the welcome, will try and post often, but must get back to work right now as lunch is over! Brenda
