And whilst I'm about it is there anyone out there of Herts. origin who knows the backgrounds to the expressions "Tyttenhanger Salt Mines" and "Sandridge Docks" - or were they just my grandad's silly sayings. J |

Jackie I've never heard of those expressions, but they may have been current when your grandad was younger. I can only imagine they are jokes as there are no salt mines in Tyttenhanger and no docks in Sandridge - tho' I believe there is a Pirate playarea! nell |

Yes. Although I understand there has been flooding and subsidence in Sandridge.......................don't know about the salt mines in Tyttenhanger though! He always used to threaten to take me there................................ |
