Didn't ask for anything else - an explanation, a statement is more than welcome. Joy

Michelle Genes Team has posted this thread:- "Site problems Some of our members have reported problems with the speed of Genes Reunited. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We are currently investigating the problem and working hard to remedy it as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience. (Please do not reply to us on this thread.) Best wishes, Michelle" Joy

Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 17 Jan 2005 23:52

I agree with all the comments voiced. Since logging on earlier today the site has deteriorated by the hour. We know GR are intending upgrading the system and I am sure they are working flat out to solve this latest glitch. It may be helpful and avert further frustrations if they could post an explanation advising members of the current situation. Can I just raise a point that was mentioned about non members reading the boards. I was unaware of this. Could someone (officially ) clarify the situation and if correct, is this contributing to putting an additional strain on the system. If so, then I for one will be extremely unhappy. A paid members site should be exactly that and non members should not be able to access any part of it. Thanks for your time. Aileen

Ok this has now hit page 2. Fred is probably not around like many others he may have given up, for tonight. I am adding this as I want to keep it close to page 1 as I would like other people's opinions before I email GR. on my query. Pat x

Personally, I really think that the thousands of £7-50 could adequately pay for an upgrade to the site. Joy

Fred totally agree with you about GR, and patience helps, if I find its getting very slow I close the window and start again, even sometimes disconnect and retry, I have even had to restart the computer, when I've been booted off. Just a thought that came to me, and I would love to know the answer to this. If people who are not members of GR can read all the boards, they go from one post to another, switch from general to tips to records etc., that would also slow the site down, wouldn't it? so many people posting threads, answering them and adding up all the people who just read them!!! I would say that would add up to a huge amount of board use this is not even counting the amount of people using other parts of the site. Pat x I think maybe I will write to Genes and ask if the site is getting overloaded by members, does unlimited access to all boards by non members make the situation worse, (personally I think it does) could access to the boards be restricted to members only. This surely would help members access all sections of the site including the boards quicker.
