I wish her and you all the best-Having had a stroke I know the frustration and limitations of one. MAY I TAKE THIS OPORTUNITY TO SAY If a member of your family has had a stroke and is unable to speak to you PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THAT THEY CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOU. I was in this situation.I could hear and understand fully but was unable to speak. You do not lose your marbles, just your speach centre. Best Wishes to you both. The recovery can be slow but very good.It took me 18 months to walk again - Rose

Cristine - best wishes for your mum's recovery, we helped an aunt to get back her speech and read coherently, it just takes time and patience. Rose - apparently the hearing is the last of the senses to go? I visited a man in a coma for 4 yrs (after a massive stroke)and found it difficult to believe that he could hear us, no flicker in his expression. Sadly, he died of an infection. Glad you have overcome your difficulties so well. Dilys

Christine I will say a prayer for your Mum tonight my Mum had one this time last year and so I know how you feel keep your chin up be bright and cheery as she will feel the vibes if you are upset when you are visiting let her know you know she will be fine too and she will be I'm sure I used to take my mum some of her favourite music on cassette and she used to lie there and sing away to her self and then gradually her voice got stronger and stronger and you could ask what the song was and she would tell you most times , and I gave her lots of cuddles & love ,I'm sure they help too, love Larainex
