To be honest Im not really into the monarchy! I know that they are the figure head of Britain and all that but I think the majority of them get paid an extortionate amount of money for not really doing a great deal!! Correct me if I am wrong but do you not think it is time for a change to things??

I agree with you Bev. All they do is turn up now and again and av a great deal of cash. I feel sorry for the Princes, they cant av a life without the whole world getting involved. Let them enjoy themselves and learn by their mistakes like the rest of us.

Things were alot different now than they were years ago when our parents were proud of the Royals! In those days they would never be seen to bring "shame", (if you like), upon themselves....they were alot more dignified then!!

Course we can kb! I know things can get a little heated sometimes but hopefully we can sort them out as the adults we are!! These kind of debates are great because not only of the differences in opinions but at least you get someone elses point of view. You may not agree with them but it gives me some other way of thinking about it! Not everything is cut and dried if you know what I mean..Bev

i find it interesting, that at the end of the evening,a welsh crowd, will stand proud, and sing the welsh national anthem. if you go to the "galtimore" in north london, and dont sing the irish anthem, you will be lucky to make it out of the door. but when they play "god save the queen",its ignored! bryan.

kb..it wouldnt have caused an argument. Anyway I agree with what you said about Charles...he seems to tiptoe around his Harry for some reason!! Maybe it is because he lost his mum at a young age or then again maybe it is just to keep the peace with him! It has been said that Harry cant stand Camilla...so who knows!! Anything for a quiet life and all that!

A few years ago I was in Ireland staying in an Hotel/Pub during the time of the then Five Nations Rugby tournament. The match that day was Scotland V France. When the anthems came on in the bar, most stood up for them. Those that didn't got a cliip round the ear from their 'elders'. I was very impressed. Yes this does have something to do with Royaly as Princes Anne was at the match!! Jacky :-)

PolperroPrincess Report 19 Jan 2005 23:43

I agree with you kb! I know that they are only kids but if my child did half the things that they did then I would cheerfully throttle him! And as for allowing them to have their own bar when Harry was only 15, in my opinion, is totally irresponsible

do you think its because the national anthem,is just asking god to save one person? where as the scots, irish, and welsh, are proudly proclaiming their country! perhaps "land of hope and glory" should be replacing it...change with the times! bryan.

PolperroPrincess Report 19 Jan 2005 23:53

How can you respect them though! You have to earn respect and they just dont

JackyJ1593

JackyJ1593 Report 19 Jan 2005 23:54

Bryan, Yes I do think Land of Hope and Glory would be a better anthem. As for should we have a Royal Family, I think we had better keep them as the alternative doesn't bear thinking about! Jacky

The Prince's, ok, still young, but believe William will do his bit, and carry on the Monarcy in the way it way it was went to, (Hopefully), Harry, just needs to grow up a bit! Charles, think he just thought the 'Crown' was going to be his anyway, so why bother putting yourself forward and do anything consructive! Andrew, well, say no more! Edward, a total waste of space, sorry!. But my admiration goes to Ann, I know a lot of people don't rate her, but, what other royal has put themselves on the line)? She messed up in life, ok, but who hasn't? But given a task, she is the one to take it on what ever the cost, she will go for it, do you hear of all the things she does? NO!
