Retired. And now at 57 I am! But seriously, at points in my life an oceanographer, palaeontologist, and racing mechanic. The first two from reading aspirations and interest. The third after racing Karts, Formula 2 stock cars and Formula first single seaters I realised I wasn't a very good driver, but ace with spanners! So I had a career in Electronics. Thats the way the wind blows isn't it? |

Air Traffic Controller in the RAF... decided that at the age of 6! Interviewed at 18, was accepted but that trade was closed to recruits at that time. Went to work at Aston Martin on a 6 month contract while I waited and got seriously hooked on cars.... still in the automotive industry 20 years later! RG |

I really had no idea, I've never been that forward thinking. Through education, I realised that I enjoyed maths and computing, which eventually led to my degree in those subjects. I got into IT, which led to a period of redundancy, and I'm back doing IT work again, but I'm somewhat disillusioned/unfulfilled with the profession I've chosen. I'm struggling to know what it is, I really want to do in life. |

You are right Lynda, but it takes years to get there. Contented is what I used to settle for as many people do. My cup is always half full! I have to tell you though I was born to be an old aged pensioner !!!!! No more worrying about stupid things....they dont matter. Deanna |

I agree with Lynda's answer. I just wanted to be happy. One day I hope I will be :S Job wise - never really knew what I wanted to do (wanted to teach at one point, but then got a bit disillusioned with the education system in my teens). Fell into IT more or less by accident, and it's quited me. I'm not sure it's what I'll do forever though. |

Good luck to Daisy's son at his first interview for Cranwell. I did this in 1917 passed and did not accept. I think I have regretted it since. Rupert |

Wanted to be an artist! NO I did'nt, I started hairdressing and in later years finished my training and became a hairdresser! My son still buys me all my artists equipment so I can indulge when I want. The passion is still there but the talent needs constant practice so I'm not too good anymore. I can still enjoy it though! I wanted to be a vet or at least an animal nurse, but my father would'nt let me go to college after I'd left school. I ended up doing shop work. Eventually I trained as a florist, a long way off from what I originally wanted to do. Jo. |

Hi Karen. As a Teenager in the early 60s, i always wanted to run my own contracting Company. I worked hard at in my 20s and eventually threw persistence and ( head down, bum up attitude.) i got the oppotunity. I now run my own Contracting Business, and have been since 1989. Cheers. Tony Oz |

Hi, I can't remeber a time when I didn't want to be a teacher. I used to line my dolls and teddies up in front of a blackboard and easel. And that's what I do. Gwynne |
