Just a thought, I have just read elsewhere that the messages are rather mundane at the moment, is Gordon trying to stir things up a bit? June

Hi Gordon Welcome on board i see you are new, and have a large tree, if a name is on the site without a date or a place of birth, or in the general area of an ancestor that is being researched, people will contact you, sometimes their is a missing child on your own tree that you don't know about,or vice versa, so you enquire. I have contacted a couple of people in the uk, with surnames in small villages on a pot luck chance and they have proved to be connections. Also i have done this with my ancestors in Australia, and made a connection. Also some people aren't very good at writing an enquiry, so we bear with them. We are all happy to help with any problems or searches and advice, and are a friendly bunch. So bear with us and don't be too quick to judge others, treat us as we will treat you, with respect and friendship. Happy Hunting Sandra

I actually think he is rather sad if the only way he can interact with people is to cause trouble and then sit back and watch, instead of joining in the fun on the boards, he must be lacking something in his personality or his life. Bev

Why do some people feel the need to cause trouble on a somewhat fun and entertaing board?? We have a TROLL amongst us....

It's a wind-up, isn't it Gordon? I'll bet you're sitting there now looking at the replies, laughing your head off. Oh dear, Gordon, you poor man. You really do need to do something more constructive - oh, and learn how to communicate with people properly. And no Gordon, you didn't wind me up love!

Ok for the record, I am not a troll or missing something in my life etc etc. As I live in Canada I'm on a different time zone, so I have just got in the door to read all of this. My family tree information is compiled by PAF program, I make it a point to include what information I have in the tree. On the contrary I have been more than co-operative and helpful with the ones who have contacted me. If there is information missing it's for one of two reasons, either I don't know it or it involves living people who have explicitly told me they don't want identifying info being made about them on the WWW. This wasn't posted with the intent of " stirring up the pot".

If this is truly the case then I apologise....we have had some trouble lately with certain people posting threads seemingly to stir up bad feelings and then just sitting back and watch every thing unfold! I am sorry if I put you into this category! Good luck with your family tree and welcome aboard! Bev

- And some for me! Sorry Gordon; as others have said, there have been quite a few people starting threads purely to stir up trouble, and I guess it's a bit of a raw nerve. I've obviously misjudged you - and believe it or not, I'm glad to be proved wrong on this! Thanks for coming on to explain things. Glenys.
