dear bev, i really feel for you, your on here supporting others, and now its your turn,to sit back and let your friends support you. i work the same hours as you,my rota is changed so often,i have to look at the paper,to see what day it is. shortly they will change me over to nights, and i hate nights,as i have to deal with drunks, falling out of pubs/clubs. we have this "new charter" allowing doctors more free time, while we have to train, and re-train,allowing us to dispense more and more drugs, and roadside resussitation, that five years ago, would be not allowed. but bev,we do it for love NOT MONEY...the nhs needs people like you,so relax, take a break,a day out...comfort shopping, spoil yourself! our nurses are wonderful, thank you bev....bryan.

thankyou marion and all of you your opinions are very much appriciated and you are right, i am no good to my patients if i am stressed, cos i know i get irritable and am not at my best, which means i cannot give my best to my patients. i do talk to other staff and the feeling is pretty general i'm afraid, in the NHS today there is not enough doctors or nurses to cope with the amount of sick patients (never mind the whingers) that we encounter. we are all stuggling to provide a service with limited resources and high demands, that is why there is such a problem with recruitment and retainment in the NHS

Bryan i know exactly what you mean i had a meeting on monday afternoon which ended at 5pm, i was in on nights at 7 pm, so basically i got up at 8am monday and did not sleep again til 8am tuesday (i work 12 hour shifts) i was back in again 7am thurs & friday(only i came home at 10 am today cos i broke down at work) i too have to support junior doctors who know less than i do about the specialty i work in. i assume you are a paramedic, in which case i know the extra responsibility you guys have taken on over the last few years
