Thanks ArgyllGran

Looking at certificates I already have:

On Edward Wallis's death cert in 1949 (aged 77) - 14 Lansdown Gardens, Lambeth is the address he was living at.

On Henry's birth certificate in 1894 they are living at 34 Colwyn St., Hercules Road

ArgyllGran

Thank you.

Odd his daughter would use Lansdown Gardens on his death cert if he was in a home. But nothing surprises me with this family.

Wonder who John Hurley is at 34 Colwyn - unless I misread it and it's 24?

I can't find Edward Wallace/Wallis on the 1939 register.

Another oddity:
8 Oct 1921 Henry Wallis married Doris Mabel Harding (original marriage was recorded as Harry Wallace) This was corrected to Henry Wallis 21 Oct 1934
(Found on Ancestry: London, England Church of England Marriage & Banns 1754-1938).

Also at that address in 1938 and 1937 - and spelled Wallace in both years.

1936 - Edward Wallis is alone at 27 Dorset Road. In previous years, as already posted , Emily and John, and Lydia until her death, had been listed with him.

"Wonder who John Hurley is at 34 Colwyn - unless I misread it and it's 24?"

Edward Wallis/Wallace isn't listed anywhere in Colwyn Street in 1894 nor 1895.

Do you mean Henry's change of name on his marriage cert in 1921 is odd?

I expect it was originally recorded as Harry because that's what he was known as, but then corrected to his official name of Henry, and also the spelling of surname corrected.
Perhaps the fact that it wasn't corrected until 1934 is slightly odd.

In 1939 he's correctly Henry Wallis, though his YOB is given as 1894, a year out as often the case on 1939 Register.

Thank you once again ArgyllGran.

I have submitted a correction to the 1939 register record as Wallis/Wallace wasnt transcribed properly which explains why i couldn't find it.

No idea why Harry/Henry Wallis/Wallace asked for the changes in 1934 to his marriage registration record.

Also can't explain why Henry's birth certificate shows 34 Hurley, but yet no record of Edward & Lydia living there.

1939 for Henry has been transcribed properly by Ancestry (or FMP) from the Register image.

The spelling, and the wrong year of birth may actually be what Henry wrote on the household form, or may be the clerk's mistake in copying it to the main Register.
Or maybe Alfred Brooks filled in the household form , thinking those details were correct.

Re 34 Colwyn Street -
maybe the Wallises were only there briefly, and not at the times the details were being taken for the ER.
They may have been temporarily renting, or lodging with, John Hurley.
