Morning Von :-D :-D <3 <3

I always hope our first rain of autumn is either drizzle or soft spring like rain to help soften the baked, hard soil. If it's heavy rain it just rolls off the soil and floods the street, often taking bits of the top soil with it.

You could stay undercover in the greenhouse ;-)

morning all ~~~~~~~~~~

So who else was daft enough to google 'torkie'? :-0

first rain of autumn Pat? Do you synchronise your watch? :-S Doesn't it just blend as it does in Blighty?

The sun's breaking through here.

PS Pat, thanks for asking yesterday, I've pm'd Fly. Not poorly sick, having dark days at the moment :-(

Morning Pat, Maddie and Von :-)

Bright and breezy here, quite warm and not a cloud in the sky :-D

Last day of meteorological summer apparently.

That's the sort of rain we need, Pat.

I've still got a baked garden with large deep cracks in what was grass :-|

Morning Island :-)

How's your garden doing ?

Island

Island Report 31 Aug 2022 09:50

Oh, meant to say, despite the dry pond and garden, I spotted a little frog hopping along the path last night Little things bring a lot of joy. :-D :-D :-D

morning Gwyn

Ha ha, cross posted there Gwyn! Beans haven't been as productive but tomatoes are going mad, 4 varieties, everyone takes some home for a cheese and tom sandwich and I still have plenty.

Morning Island :-D :-D <3 <3

Sorry you're not having a good time at the moment <3

We have no rain from early May to September/October here. Last rain here was April, that's why we need soft rain which soaks in. People stand outside here to check it's really raining when it starts in Autumn. :-D :-D

A little frog ?
Gosh he must have been searching for a bit of damp ground.... How lovely and I agree, just simple things can bring a lot of joy :-D <3

Quite a few people have had poor crops, if any from beans this year.
Great to have all those tasty tomatoes though... Well done.

Morning Gwyn. :-D :-D <3 <3

Yes Gwyn, heavy rain does more damage than good. You'll understand what's needed here and now you have similar conditions in UK.

Island

Island Report 31 Aug 2022 10:00

No rain from May to Sept makes our few days heatwave and no rain look a bit mardy Pat. :-\

Gwyn, the pond was heaving with frogspawn in February. I think a bit of cannibalism (froggibalism?) goes on. :-0
I'll have to watch where I step in the dark now but I think they do manage to jump away.

Morning Pat, Maddie, Von, Island, Gwyn, Uncle Tom Cobbley and all. <3 :-D

Wet here but still short-sleeve weather.

Was surprised just as I sat in the bath with my book this morning. Doorbell went and OH shouted it’s your delivery. I jumped up, flicked a towel around me legs, pulled on a long dress and hared downstairs as OH is keeping away from everyone at the moment because within an hour or so of getting back after his voluntary stint yesterday he got a phone call telling him one of those there had just tested positive.

Semi-wet legs under a long dress - not comfortable :-S :-0

Morning Belle. <3 :-D

Enjoy your sweetie bargain. <3

Good to see you back, Island. Not an easy time for you, I think. <3

Next door has a pond with frogs in it. A couple of years ago when going round to the side of the house in the dark I jumped a mile when a frog hopped onto my foot. What a surprise!

It's never happened again as we got a sensor light to illuminate the back door and the side path.

This year a tiny one rested, hiding, in one of the corners inside the greenhouse. I'd never had seen it but that eagle-eyed guy I live with ..... misses nothing. :-0

Just had a nice surprise message, probably because I did not moan at the delivery guy being an hour early. Returned a few bags to him and was credited for many more so, effectively, a decent discount. It was another instance of what we wrote the other day. He delivered nearby then was supposed to go 12+ miles away then double back to us - so he was sorting out his route on the hoof.
