Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 15 Mar 2022 10:37

It started to shed on Friday

Washed it Thursday so it’s been ok but really now needed a wash

Had a picc line put in on Friday too and had to order a waterproof sleeve which came yesterday

Soo great can have a shower and hair wash

So was rinsing off and then realised it had clumped across the forehead and nothing couid loosen it

So downstairs had to take the scissors to it

Thank goodness I wash forwards too

Can see my scalp now on top through sparse hair

Blimey that went quickly .only has the first chemo on the 23 feb!

Second one tomorrow

At this rate will be bald next week !

Have bought two caps with scarf thingies and a wig
;-)

A similar thing happened to my Aunt and when it grew back it was curly before that it was straight, she always wanted curly hair now in her 80s she has it.
healing hugs to you Shirley.

Hope everything goes well for you Shirley.

Your hair will grow back I'm sure. My hubby had chemo 37 years ago when our boys were about 8 and 12. One night he was washing his hair in the bath (no shower then) and his hair came out in clumps. So that the boys wouldn't be too bothered by the way he looked he asked them if they would like to shave his head. They really loved the idea of them being "barbers".

When it grew back it was very soft - almost like baby hair and was in really good condition.

My hair has started to fall out and go very thin this last couple of years (think it might be my thyroid medication) so I keep considering a wig but haven't found one that I like the look of. Maybe I'll consider a scarf thingy.

Hope your treatment goes well and you are soon out of the hands of the doctors.

You still manage to be upbeat through all your trials. Well done.

I hope your treatment goes well and you soon feel a lot better.

I too know someone whose hair was thick and very good looking, when it grew back.

Mine was thick and wavy so it’s a bit of a blow how it’s coming out so quickly and seeing scalp

Hope mine isn’t the opposite when it grows back

Don’t want thin straight hair :-(

My SiL had two different courses if chemo. The first didn't affect her hair at all. The second lot did make her hair fall out but once the chemo had finished it started to grow back, much stronger and thicker than before :-)

Hope all goes well tomorrow, Shirley<3 <3

How is your new knee :-) <3

When my daughter went through six months of chemo for Hodgkin’s she lost her hair too

It started to go after the second session which she had every two weeks

Her hubby said shall I shave what’s left off and they decided yes but to wait for her stepson who has learning difficulties to come home from school so he wouldn’t get confused

So Kieran “helped “ his dad to help Karen look lovely again !

Karen had thick straight hair which grew back speckled grey and curly
She hated it but I thought it looked really nice

SIL has said I will bring my shaver up when you decide too

Daughter said was the best thing she did !

London Belle

The knee is still swollen and stiffens up if I sit too long ,except for the overnight pain it used to give it’s really not a lot better tbh

At least though it can’t get worse with the bone on bone arthritis the joint had

The pain is now muscular as well as got numb areas across the knee cap :-(

Aw Shirley, at least you know the chemo is in your system and hopefully doing it's job.
When my daughter was 5 and she had a rare cancer, her hair after the 2nd dose started to fall out. She got chemo every 10th day and had 9 doses in all.

We cut her hair to begin with until eventually with the high dose it all went. But After the last dose and radiotherapy, her hair within the month(just before xmas) started to grow back. Not so blonde, a little darker then but she is blonder now so it actually went lighter over time.

Our hair is out crowning glory isn't it? I have long thick hair, halfway down my back. However, you are strong and positive, a bit like me and know that yours will grow back once all your treatment is done. I would buy a wig too, bit of pride i guess but anything to feel good.

Best of luck tomorrow and hope all goes well.

Stay strong & positive, healing hugs to you <3

Thank you all

Yes I am staying positive

Not letting that alien get me !

When I was diagnosed I was ok let’s get on and get this alien out of me and anything else I need to do to get back to meeeeee

Must say I have always liked my hair to look groomed and neat .it has often been remarked that “ your hair always looks nice “

Not for any airs and graces I just like my hair to look nice

That's 1 less to go then for your treatment. A friend of mine had beautiful fine platinum blonde long hair and lost it with chemo. Now it is a light brown and wavy and she wears it in a short style, but still looks lovely on her. Yours will soon grow back and just that first inch will cover your scalp. With one thing or another I expect your knee will take a bit longer to heal. Best wishes. :-)

Had second chemo on wed and was very tired after it

The knee played up really badly last night ,one of the side effects is muscles pain in joints , strangely it’s the knee replacement one that hurts the most

After tossing and turning all night and paracetamol having no effect I was down at 4am and put the heat pad on it

Managed to stop it twitching with pain and it’s settled into a stiff knee pain

Went back to bed and got 2 hours sleep

Gonna be ker nackered later on

And the hair is getting very sparse now too !! :-(
