and give some a stonking headache :-|

I think they're a lazy choice on the part of florists.

Lily pollen can also stain your clothes, and kill your pet! :-|

Lilies are very big and showy and I guess some people love them.

We made a point of asking that they did NOT put any in the chapel floral displays, when a family funeral was held there.

Our vacuum cleaner has built in 'deodoriser' - ugh! The fella can't smell it :-0

How do you deodorise household deodorisers?

Why are florists so keen on those big stinky lilies?

I don't use fabric conditioner and am very sensitive to some of them. One cottage we stayed in, bedding and towels were drenched in it and I had streaming eyes and sore throat after the first night, plus it makes the towels virtually non-absorbent.

I've had a 'sheila maid' airer for years which is great, but stuff goes outdoors when possible.

Anything electrical can catch fire. With tumble dryers, never leave them running whilst you are out of the house and ALWAYS clean the fluff from the filter after use.

maggiewinchester Report 31 Aug 2021 13:39

Yes, certain scented fabric conditioners are awful!

Guess who never uses scented candles - and can be woken up by the smell of a cat using a litter tray, the other end of the house :-(

Maggie
My daughter has a similar problem with people who have had clothes washed with fabric conditioner that smells of lilies.

:-D :-D :-D
...and I suppose |I should have said I could smell the children a mile off - but that somehow sounds rude.
It wasn't their fault the washing powder smelt like it did, and if I had to work with one, it wasn't too easy making excuses for a 'breather'!

Clothes washed in Ariel glow in the dark under UV light. :-D

When I worked in schools, I could spot the children whose clothes were washed in Ariel a mile off!!!

I was going to make use of the slight breeze but popped to the shops before I hung the washing out. Probably a lucky choice as I found there was light rain.

So the dryer is now groaning away.

Island

Island Report 31 Aug 2021 12:30

It's still an irritant to people with sensitivity though

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 31 Aug 2021 12:10

The fake smell isn't on the clothes anyway when dried indoors.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 31 Aug 2021 12:05

I have the same problem with fake smells :-(

Island Report 31 Aug 2021 11:57

No thanks. If I can't have natural fresh air I'm bugged if I'm paying for synthetic rubbish. I have very sensitive nose trils and upper resp.

Lenor make an 'outdoorsy' fabric conditioner.
I haven't tried it.

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 31 Aug 2021 10:58

Don’t they sell that fresh outdoor smell nowadays?

Island

Island Report 31 Aug 2021 10:51

The weather forecast doesn't look good for pegging out over the next week. If the washing isn't going to dry outside it may as well be draped over airers from the start. No more fresh outdoor smell :-(
