A lot of people forget that part ZZzzz and look really surprised when they catch the virus.....after partying with numerous people!!

It has been said for a long time that it won't stop you getting the virus if you have had both jabs, just that you won't end up in hospital.

If she had been carrying something to show she was exempt from wearing a mask the guard would not have challenged her. In Edinburgh at the moment the rates of Covid are still high and so most people I know are incredibly careful. As Caroline said just because we’re double vaccinated doesn’t mean we can’t catch it.

I have many relatives in Scotland most of whom are fully vaccinated, but they still caught the virus and were quite bad with it albeit not in a hospital. You still have to be careful.

I can see how our group of villages is doing along with the neighbouring groups and it is not too good at the moment. I would just like to know which so and sos had got it!!!

Joan, we have downloaded vaccine certificates from the NHS Scotland site and carry them with us in case we are ever asked for proof of vaccination. It took about 10 minutes and was very easy.

Names, yesterday I was looking at a BBC news site about the situation here in Scotland, and it had charts of numbers of cases, vaccinations in age groups and other things, all divided into different health board areas. The best places to be are rural, which I think is the same everywhere.

I don't know if there is a similar one for England, but if there is it might answer your question about which age group has the most cases. Here it is the younger people, but that is partly because very few of them have had both vaccinations, although over half have now had one.

i was informed that GPs would not be giving out exemption letters etc as they had enough to do, so I downloaded a very official looking exemption slip from NHS SCOTLAND site, I popped it into a clear plastic photo slip & clipped it permanently to the lapel of my jacket.
It's still on show as those in Scotland are still having to use masks!

I haven't had anyone approach or question me about this, & anyway if one just said they were exempt no-one was allowed / suposed to question them about why they were exempt etc!

Me. My neighbour watched it unfold at the time. The supermarket is just 400 yards from our homes and regularly gets used as a corner shop. It never occurred to her to carry anything saying she was exempt.

Do you or the papers think she was wanting money, if it were me I would have proof on me that I was exempt.

A woman was complaining to the papers last week after my local supermarket challenged her over no mask and no Daisy lanyard. She was demanding compensation from the supermarket as she was exempt from wearing a mask.

I’m keeping going with mine. Numbers are almost as bad as they were at the worst.

OH went on the local bus this week and only one other person had a mask on.

It would be useful to know which age group are being hit locally.

I can't wait for them to ditch masks in Wales. I'll gladly make a bonfire with mine!

I have never worn a mask when out and about unless I am in town or near a crowd in the village. I don’t wear one in the car usually, although I did when giving an older lady a lift ( She just doesn’t get COVID restrictions).

I shall continue wearing one as usual for some time. I did read that people were being abused for wearing one - you can’t stop morons being moronic.

I am at my daughters staying in the north of the Lake District. We have been out and about a bit. Walking along the prom by the sea, none of us wearing masks but still keeping apart from people. Going into Asda, every customer that I saw was wearing a mask bar one, (maybe exempt). However staff with troll is shelf filling had no masks on. Staff at tills were masked.

Sitting outside a small cafe yesterday where you ordered inside and carried food out all customers put on their masks as they entered the shop and removed them when exiting. On Wednesday in Cockermouth, no masks in the street but in every shop, all small shops, all staff and customers I saw wore masks. People are wary here as an adjacent area has one of the highest infection rates in England. I wonder if people in the Tees areas are wearing masks, infection is really high there.

I do find it uncomfortable wearing a mask but only because it affects me being able to communicate with people. My hearing is so bad I really need to partly lip read to hear and that can make me feel isolated. It is fine if I am with daughter as she repeats what is said clearly and I can hear her. My oh used to be my ears so I miss him badly when it comes to this.

But, although a nuisance, an inconvenience, I will continue to wear a mask until it is safe.

Joan you are exempt I thought so no need for a mask luckily.

I did see that in the Tees area (north East) one in four is still not vaccinated (adults), I think that is part of their problem.

I went to the hospital on wed and they are still operating their covid restrictions

Went to chiropractor yesterday too and she is still masked and gowned and her patients still have to wear a mask

I've been out a couple of times, to town and the supermarket and still wore my mask and will continue to do so. It's no hardship. Most customers, both in the shopping centre and the supermarket wore masks.

I went shopping early Tuesday morning in Sainsburys when it was quiet, and was pleased to see virtually all customers were wearing masks.

Less happy to see a significant minority of staff working bare faced in the aisles (ie not the staff behind perspex screens) . Previously, when mandatory, virtually all staff wore masks and just a couple, who were presumably exempt, wore visors.

Won't be impressed if they have reduced hours due to staff getting infected. Bristol is now at 888 per 100,000 and the trend seems to be upwards :-(

Vera - perhaps the reason why your area hasn't been too badly hit by Covid is, like you say - most people are wearing masks and being careful. It's what everyone should be doing.

Just seen this and am amazed at the opening post. ZZzzz has had a very different experience to me. Yesterday I went to the chiropodist, a supermarket and 3 pharmacies and they were all operating the same restrictions as previously. I only saw one person without a mask in the supermarket and she may have been exempt. Everyone was distancing. I would have expected people round here to be a bit blasé as we haven’t been too badly hit by Covid but everyone still seems to be taking care.

I do understand where Joan is coming from. It’s one thing choosing to lead a quiet life but another thing knowing you don’t have the option. I have found it hard at times as we had a fairly active social life which I don’t think is going to fully recover but we plod on doing as we are told for the sake of everyone. I’m very excited at the moment as I will be seeing my son and his family this weekend for the first time in 21 months and I can legally give my granddaughters a hug:-)
