Imagine you are new to a village and have received the parish magazine..

Listed in the front are all the usual bits of information, name of vicar, parish council etc.

There is a list of people to contact for different things including Audrey Simpkins for Good Companions.

Elsewhere there is listed the Good Companions Transport Club with the name and contact number of the chairman, Charles Williams and and the lady to contact about enquiries.

What would you think the Good Companions Transport Club was?

This is not a puzzle. This is real, our village and I think I have found the answer to a problem.

I will tell you about it later but I would like to see what a few more people think first.

I suspect the use of the word ‘club’ might have been a problem. It could mean that you have to join ‘the club’ to be able to use it.

Don't know what that has to do with anything.

What do you think of what I am asking, Dermot.

I would have thought the same as Kath and Maggie unless there was a club/organisation called 'Good Companions' - or a dog group or dog walking group (thinking how dog is a man's best friend)..

Maybe they thought it was a 'singles' club for people looking for a 'good companion'. :-D

Actually, on re-reading it, and having finished my invoice for British Gas, I'd question Audrey and her 'Good Companions'. I mean, there are Companions and there are 'nudge nudge, wink wink' Companions. :-0
