He' still here Joy, but at least the heating is on now. He's a very good plumber who is meticulous in his work and I hope he keeps working for as long as I am around to need him. :-)

:-D :-D :-D

If he's a plumper plumber, Kath, keep schtum in case he waltzes off in the huff! They're hard to come by. ;-) :-D

Oh dear....slip of the finger there. I shall tell the plumber when he comes that he is now a plumper. He can go round plumping up my cushions :-D :-D :-D

I want a plumper! :-D :-D

I had my boiler serviced during the last lockdown. The sweep came too - a huge lad with tattoos, long plaited beard, and mohican - but he took his Doc Martens off before he came in. As I'd only had a fire about 3 times last year, he just did a smoke test.

I had my hair cut in August, I think. My sister (who isn't a hairdresser) does it - and does it very well, providing we've both had a drink or rwo.
It's 'payback' for when she gave me a mullett in the 1960's!

I shall get it done again when the lockdown's over, and we have a family gathering again. Having it cut at a gathering can be amusing - 'advice' coming from all quarters, usually from the half who aren't driving home and are as squiffy as me and my sister :-D
However, as my hair is dead straight, and has no hidden 'talent's (like frizzing when washed, or a 'secret' wave). a straightforward hack along the bottom results in a successful haircut/style :-D
My sister has to blow dry her hair, or it frizzes, and 'style' it or it has 'kinks'.
I just wash and condition mine, brush it, and leave it to dry.
Some days I forget to brush it, and you wouldn't know. As long as I brush it after washing, it stays in place :-D

I don't usually pick up on spelling mistakes because I can't type but I do love the idea of the plumper coming. I just picture him making everything comfortable.

Yes, I think I was wrong. I'd forgotten that workman could only come into homes for essential work - and I don't suppose you could call hairdressers essential.

We have the plumper coming today to service the boiler and gas fire - so I'm grateful that the wind has died down and it's not too cold as we have to have the boiler off until he's been at lunchtime.

Names, allowing people like plumbers and electricians makes sense to me as I would class those services as essential. Decorating and hairdressing in the home, I would say are inessential.

One of my pals (also cutting her own hair) has kept herself busy by painting every room in her home.

I think the people allowed to come in and work are more likely to be the plumber or electrician. Last I heard was they hadn’t yet decided whether to include decorators, so I don’t think hairdressers would be included.

Our local water company has continually refused to replace my son’s broken water meter as they believe they can’t enter the flat. :-P

I'm not sure so I'd have to check, Kath.

My hairdresser is a travelling one but as she is going into everyone else's home as well as mine, I felt it safer to do my own hair (with OH's help) as I would never forgive myself if she came and, unwittingly, had just picked up the virus at one of the other homes she'd visited, passed it on to me and I passed it on to OH who has health issues.

I felt it better to be safe than sorry because the symptoms of the virus often take a few days to appear.

People who are coming to your home for work are allowed to aren't they?

Even if I lived in England I'd have no such problems; I shave my head :-)

I was just thinking I needed a haircut, so now I’ going to have to do it to myself ;-)

Where do you live Emma? In England we are not going to be allowed visitors.

I had mine done today, made the appointment back in Sept. Unusually for me, a case of good timing!

I have been going regularly every week since July, when they opened again, but mine has decided that, with all the latest restrictions, she is going to retire!! :-(

So I am now looking for a new hairdresser, at just about the most inconvenient time possible. At least in this area they are still allowed to open.

Sharron

Sharron Report 2 Nov 2020 15:13

You would be growing it anyway!
