I have a distant cousin also looking in Walsall. There were only 2 families with that surname in the area - Humphrey the father - very good at baptising his family. Benjamin a bit tardy and may have forgotten a couple as there's a 5 yr gap between the children - my 4t gt grandfather fits in. Last 4 children a job lot aged 19 - 12 :-S. My 4th gt grandfather named a son Benjamin.

yes there are some crackers.

When I was looking for my grandfather on the 1901 census found him aged 10 with parents and 4 siblings - father Phineas - easy to find details on him - also there Phineas Snr born 1824 - easy to find his birth - father Edward and blow me down there was Edward's baptism father Phineas back to about 1777 :-D

I love the Parish Records too Von. Most people on here would be amazed to know that Original Wales Parish Records are more available here than on other sites. At least they were! Often, if they have them, other sites only have transcriptions.

When I upload an original to my Gallery in Ancestry I make a point of saying where it came from. I will always be grateful to GR for starting me off <3

I like parish records the best especially when the vicar likes to tell the truth about parentage :-0 :-0 :-0

I once read some very interesting stuff about a workhouse where the master obviously thoroughly disliked a member of his staff :-0 ;-)

I'll never forget my excitement when GR sent me an email with a link to my Maternal Great Grandfather's 1901 Census. He was living in The Oriental Institute, Woking and editing and managing the Asiatic Quarterly Review books. This was after they came back from Persia. It started me off with my family tree
