Well when I drove home my one concern was getting home and not being stranded

Was very careful driving home because of no driver side mirror

Was very aware how often I was looking out only to remember I didn’t have the mirror

Wasn’t aware I could have been pulled over just wanted to get home

Ah well the SIL is fitting the new mirror on Sunday and it’s going on for repair next Monday

Don’t need admonishment for driving home

I hope they manage to get the car sorted when it goes in today Shirley

It’s gone in now to be fixed and they kindly drove me home too

SIL fitted the new wing mirror yesterday as well


Now waiting for a plumber as the pipe behind the water softener sprang a leak

The whole thing will have to come out to fit a new pipe

Currently got no water as it has had to be shut off

Ooh that’s not good Shirley. I hope the plumber can fix it so you can get water again. We broke the rules today so that my in-laws could get a shower as they’ve had no hot water for over a week.

I hope you’re not waiting too long for water though as that’s a nightmare.

Had my usual chat with my daughter tonight and said car had gone in

Then was the water leak and having to turn water off

She was “smelly “ !! How did you manage today

Well lots of feminine wipes and baby wipes was my response!


Buttttt no water is a pain

The loo needed a flush so turn on flush and listen to the cistern refill and switch off again


Really want to shower and hair wash tomorrow so it will be turn on ,shower and turn off

Hopefully the plumber will be coming tomorrow to sort it

The kick board though is not ok as it’s blown with water and the white outer is off it :-0

Have been assured they will be here but have had to adjust their appointments so can’t give a time

Didn’t take any chance switching on the water as they said keep re pressurising may make it blow more

It’s still leaking a bit as it’s on the inlet side from the mains

I have mains fed water and no water tanks

Did the plumber finally arrive Shirley?

Noooo no one turned up

Am ppppp off now

So do I take a chance and have a quick shower and hair wash is ??

I will ring them again after 9am

I hope you get them out today Shirley. No water is awful and you would think it would be a priority.

Well I really couldn’t wait any longer so at 8 .30 am water on. .huge bath towel in the cupboard where the leak is .shower and hair washed , teeth cleaned , and two toilets flushed and the water off again

Got a phone call half hour ago ,sorry they didn’t make it as the job they were on got extended

Will definitely be here before 3 pm and get it sorted

Any luck with the plumber? I would have done the same and showered as it’s not fair making you wait like that.

Was told will be there at 3pm

At 4.20 I rang them to ask where is he

They said will check and come back which they did

Sorry the job he was on went over but will be with you in an hour

Did he turn up ?? Nope !!


I am at the end of my tether now

Pretty soon it will have to be housecoat all day as running out of clean undies now tooo !

So annoying for you. I hope someone comes very soon to help you out. It's awful being without hot water.

I have no water at all !

My water is mains fed . no water tanks

The leak is the pipe attached to the mains inlet and above the isolating tap

Have another turn off valve on the pipe further in that was branched off for the water softener and drinking water tap

So turning it off at the accessible valve doesn’t shut it off completely so the pipe is still dripping even though it’s depressurised

The softener will have to come out to get to the pipe and possibly the water shut off outside the house so as to replace the section of pipe

I am a long term customer of the company and buy the salt through them and have the unit serviced by them

When I rang them first I was “not sure if it’s you or should I get an emergency plumber even though the unit will have to come out”

Was told noooo we will deal with it

Appreciate they have pre booked appointments already so was trying to fit it in but they do only have two installers /plumbers and one isn’t working outside at the moment so it’s not ideal

Hopefully they will be here today

Have told them it’s desperate now :-(

He has just arrived :-D :-D :-D :-D

Edit it’s one of the hot water feeds so he can replace the section and only has to turn the mains stopcock off

Thank goodness!!!

Has checked over the water softener and reset it and done a recycle cos it’s all out of sync !

Was very apologetic on the delay . Said he just wasn’t able to get to me as so busy on pre arranged jobs that some went over the allotted time
