They have an advantage, they tape record the conversation. What happened to privacy ?

I had one at work the other day. Me: Good Morning, Edinburgh business, Mrs Owl speaking how may I help you? Them: This is Microsoft and you have a problem with your computer. Me: That’s very interesting given I don’t have a computer at home but this is a business line so I’m hanging up now. They carried on saying no I was lying to them because they knew I was at home. They even went so far as to suggest I had amnesia if I couldn’t remember I was at home. I hung up on them.

MS and those they own have become too big. They know if you're using a PC or
a laptop. They know all your devices, your internet supplier, your hub etcetera.
Wouldn't surprise me if their operating systems had a "back door" we already allow them to save our passwords. Our cloud is part of a giant PC under their roof. Threads, contacts, e-mails, all accessible. What a tool foe the NSA'

I enjoy stringing them along. Often I tell them that I have never bought a computer. Quite true. The fact I have been with someone doing the choosing and handing over the credit card then driving them home is irrelevant.

One Microsoft expert told me I was lying and that someone in the house was using a computer. Well, I was alone in the house doing something on the computer - of course I went into panic mode about an intruder in the house - you,d have thought the would offer to call the police ( ;-) ), but no, he continued to call me a liar :-D

Tell them you're bankrupt, then they won't waste yours or their time.

Microsoft have released an update for Windows 7 .... this week.
It fixes a bug which can cause the screen to go black when running a screensaver in stretch mode with the result that any UG to Win10 will be cast into the darkness.

We string them along, tell them - I don't have a computer or suddenly say during their chat - I didn't know Microsoft had now taken over Apple as we only have an Apple - both seem to annoy the callers. ;-)

If I have time I play along with it......but not any way shape or form in a serious manner...all very overacted "sincere".." oh no really that's awful how did that happen" type of comments. They usually finally give up when I ask them how to open the laptop so I can turn it on.

My fella strings them along if he's in the mood and has the time, otherwise he adopts the whistle method.

I favour the Mrs Allan approach ;-) :-D

Same problem here in Oz. :-|

I usually tell them that I don't have a computer as I got rid of it following all the phone calls about the problems I was experiencing.

I just hope that I get to the phone before my wife: I've not heard such words since working on the docks in Grimsby :-0 :-D :-D

Have had several phone calls in the last week telling me that there are problems with my computer or internet.

Have managed to keep them hooked for several minutes on occasion but they don't give up easily.

The numbers they purportedly call from comes up as "Not recognised" if I dial 1471 after ending the call.

Next time it's going to be the dog whistle, i think.
