Some of the food on here I remember one of my friends her OH use to eat heart & a lot of pigs trotters.my Mum use to make lambs fries when I found out what they were never ate any more .ugh
Why would anybody eat pigs tails there only little curly things. Not much meat on :-) think it's offal the food some people eat ;-) Barbara

Traditionally, when the family pig was killed, the only thing wasted was the squeal.

Somebody I knew had passed on half a pigs head to family up the road for them to make brawn, which they did.

There was something up with it because, next time he went round, they were all sitting on buckets and holding bowls and basins, whatever they could find.

In Oz lamb's fry refers to lamb's liver

When I was in the UK I used to enjoy the other variety as part of a huge fry-up breakfast which also contained black pudding

There is a bit of leg on it, Barbra - about the size of a very large chop - and 2 inches thick!
Some of the recipes though just use the tails - deep fried.
I also eat a lot of heart, and lamb's kidneys are delicious.

My gran once gave me melts. I thought it was mushroom -and I refused to eat mushrooms for quite a long time.
I've since found out that the 'melt' is the cow's spleen.

Allan - I love a bit of decent black pudding - so that excludes 'Mattessons' - and 'proper' white pudding is pretty good too :-D
If I find a 'real' butcher on my travels, I'll try their black pudding.
So far, Newbury, Marlborough, somewhere on the Kennet and Avon canal, Crowe, Shaftesbury and the co-op on Skye (brilliant white pudding too - and some excellent porter) amongst others, have come up trumps :-D

It's a little tail, with quite a big chunk of meat.
I never said how much 2 tails (and accompanying meat) cost.
Well, it was on offer at £1.
Cheap enough to not worry about if it's awful - but cheap enough to try as a new experience.
I just need to make sure I have a can of soup handy.

Lambs frys are white meat from a male .that's why I couldn't eat anymore after my late Mum told me .each to their own you have to try all things if you don't like em fair enough.enjoy if you do :-D
