We're probably all now a little bit more knowledgeable about & supportive of Homosexuality & gender dysphoria. A lending ear, if it comes to it. Unless someone is going through a crisis, it's not relevant.

What I can't get my head around is someone who declares they are Gender Fluid - one day they feel as if they are a male, the next a female. :-S

Perhaps they should be adult about it and have the good manners to ask you to amend the post, not RR because they are afraid to front it.

But I do feel that the gender or sexual inclination of somebody else is nothing to do with me. After all, how much time does sex take up of your life?

There is so much more to a person than their gender or sexual attractiveness unless you are making a 1960's motoring advertisement.

This is a subject that needs to be taken seriously .Young people and adults struggle to come to terms with how they feel about their gender when they just know they have not been born in the right body, and then how to be open to family and friends because of the fear of how others will react.Deciding to go through the whole procedure of actually becoming the Gender they believe they should be must be the most difficult and most challenging thing ever. The more support and understanding is what is needed and I am sure there would be far less self harming and mental health issues.
Just my view on the subject :-)

Maggie and Sharron both been RR'd. Oh dear, what have you said now?
Personally, I don't really care what people get up to as long as they are not harming anyone.

Some bright spark on the radio last week introduced insurance premium rates into the discussion.

Some specialised policies (eg. Income Protection) historically charge higher premium rates for females than for males.

For life cover, the reverse is applicable.

A conundrum for Insurance providers to consider for any gender changed applicants. :-S

It's not their fault if they're born intersex - I'm speaking of those who declare themselves as 'women in men's bodies', who never quite go the whole hog. To coin a phrase.
I worked in a psychiatric hospital with a woman who was undergoing a sex change - in those days, it was deemed psychiatric incarceration on a daily basis in between treatment was a necessity.
She spoke openly about it, I never asked - she just said - but one thing she was really looking forward to was peeing standing up!
I left that job after about a year, but, later on, I met 'Janet' on a bus.
I have to admit, I said 'Oh, hello.......' 'John', Janet said rapidly, understanding my pause! We chatted throughout the journey, and she too was happy in her body, but wasn't interested in girlfriends, just happy.

Sharron Report 17 Nov 2018 17:24

Not their fault though is it?

Somebody I met when I was working is now a woman but had been a man. She is evidently comfortable and at peace with herself now but, when I was talking to her, we were talking about things that were really not very womanly, me because I had pursued the opportunity to learn what I wanted to know and she because she had been able to do things that would not have been available to her had she been a woman at the time.

I agree!
Definitely not the first thing I ask someone.
In fact, it's something I've never asked anyone.

Sharron

Sharron Report 17 Nov 2018 16:11

Does anybody agree with me that, unless I have some sort of sexual hope or interest in somebody, it is none of my damned business anyway?
