MONDAY JUNE 16th

Watch this thread for further details :-) :-) :-)

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 17 Jun 2016 18:01

Good Evening Rugby Union Fans :-) :-) :-) <3

A little earlier in the week, I said that I would explain how the Under 20s Rugby World Championship works.
With all the different kinds of big sporting events on at the moment, it has been difficult to keep up, lol! :-D :-D

SO HERE IT IS!

THE UNDER 20s RUGBY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2016
This tournament got under way on Tuesday, June 7th.

The host city for this year’s Championship is MANCHESTER. and there are just two grounds being used.

Two sportsgrounds are being used- The AJ Bell Stadium (Home ground of Sale Sharks)and Manchester City’s academy.

*12 TEAMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD ARE TAKING PART IN THIS CHAMPIONSHIP:
England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France, Italy, Japan, Georgia, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

JUST LIKE LAST YEAR'S SENIORS RUGBY WORLD CUP.... POOL GROUPS ARE INVOLVED.

The teams are split into 3 groups or pools, with 4 teams in each pool.

Three rounds of games are played, and at the end of the third round-
THE 3 TOP TEAMS GO THROUGH TO THE SEMI FINALS,
along with the 4th PLACED TEAM OVERALL.

FROM THE SEMI- FINALS ONWARDS IT'S A KNOCK-OUT COMPETITION!

Any team that loses their game is then out of the competition.

The teams that don’t qualify will be ranked and will all compete in a play-off which will be 5th v 6th, 7th v 8th, 9th v 10th and 11th v 12th to determine overall standings.

The three rounds have all now taken place, and the positions of the teams in each pool, and therefore their future in this competition, will be posted next :-)
