Yes, he had to go out and find his own food in the hedge as well.

Used to watch Panorama to see if I was on as the worst carer in the world with pictures of a poor old man foraging in the hedge while the wicked daughter who had his pension is pictured in Aldi buying bottles of whisky and big bags of fun sized chocolate bars. (His whisky, chocolate bars to always ensure the carers had warm hands!).
