There wasn't any notice, for I went on a game this morning before spending a small fortune at Tescos !!! on food, spectacles, a DVD player and plants. Cards going Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Anyway played games as usual and all was the same went on this afternoon and all had changed. I have been on the suggestions site and asked that us ladies shadow could look like a lady and not all of us looking like men, I quite like knowing if I was the last one posting or not and the time is back, so maybe GR read some of our posts !!!! ;-) ;-)

Haven't been on the boards for a couple of days. Have just caught up eith reading all the new postings to this thread.

Penny, I have been researching some areas of Worcester, as some of my in-laws (ancestorsd) came from there. My grandsons were all born there too.

Did vote today. Polling station was very quiet, so I reckon probably a low turn out.

We have had a little bit of rain today, but got my washing dry before it arrived. We are likely to have more rain tomorrow.

Thechanges on the boards were a shock. I will look at them properly tomorrow when I am awake. -

It's a dull day here, we had lovely rain during the night and already there are green shoots among the grass which had died, there really is nothing quite like rain for the garden. Our forecast for to-day is heavy rain - so here's hoping.

Nice to see you on here Greenfingers, hope we see more of you.

My bird-feeder is up now but I must have it moved a little so that I am able to see it from my chair in the lounge. I so hope the birds are going to find the seeds quickly. Our neighbours have removed the Port Jackson Willow tree which they had next to the boundary wall, so now there is so much more light there and that patch of garden will get a lot more sunlight, so we are going to plant veggies there. The Port Jackson is a proclaimed weed here.

I have just made a couple of bottles of grenadilla curd, one of which I had to strain the pips out of as it is for friends and they are not allowed to eat anything with pips. I was quite surprised to see how much of the curd is needed to fill the botle when there are no pips.

Perhaps someone can explain to me (who is technologically challenged) how to use the emoticons!

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Good morning, I have to admit that I am slightly hung over today!
As a result I am somewhat late coming on here, I do not feel guilty because I do not drink much alcohol, so just a few drinks gives me a headache!

I am not sure that I like this new system and would like to know the following please give simple instructions
How do a get the names of people I am researching at the bottom of my box? How do I put a picture on the left hand side,
I have learnt how to place an emotion though by tapping on one I like

Going now to do some housework,

SpanishEyes Report 6 May 2011 10:47

Well I got that wrong didn't I? So how do you get a little yellow or red face on our messages???

SpanishEyes

SpanishEyes Report 6 May 2011 10:49

How strange, whilst writing my second message the yellow face appeared on the first message...must have an even stronger coffee! :O

Valerie

Valerie Report 6 May 2011 11:49

Bridget go to "My Account" - under the pricture is the space for the names you are researching.

- click on "Change" which is next to the picture and then follow the instructions.

Hope this helps.

Bridget, you seem to have worked out the emoticons, and Val has explained how to add the places/names you are researching.

While in your account, if you look at the picture of the blank 'head', next to it or under it you should see the words change and clear. If you have photos stored on your computer the easiest way is to clcik on chnge, then on files. This will bring up the files on your computer. Click on the file where your photos are stored 'my pictures' for instance, find the photo you want displayed and click on it and download. Press save on your account Give it a few minutes and it should appear against your name

Will try to get a picture on here but have a lot of other things to do before I attempt it.

I now have a bird feeder in my garden (been there for about three weeks). I haven't as yet seen any birds using it. Have got seeds, water and feeding balls. (no nuts at the moment).

I live in a built up area, but there ar some trees nearby. The three that were the closest have been chopped down. There are also quite a few Magpies around.
I don't know if either of these have stopped birds from visiting.
Any ideas?

At the moment I have a paved area in my garden plus a lawn.
I am a "new gardner" Waiting for my fence and back gate to be fixed by the next-door neighbour (they were damaged by his building work). The fence people are supposed to be coming to do the job on 16th of this month.
Once that it done, I will be looking for other things to put in the garden. Possibly some gro-bags for tomatoes on the paved area.
considering planting potatoes at the end of the garden - just a little patch as 1) The garden is small 2) I don't want to have to do a lot of digging.

Also want some flowers, shrubs and possibly herbs. Knowing me, it will probably take a couple of years to get this sorted.

Have now got a digital camera - will really have to work out how to use it - maybe to record a "work in progress" in the garden and to get a picture for GR.

All for now as I need to do my review for the GReaders Group.

Hope your hangover is gone to-day Bridget and that you are bright and chirpy :-).

We have lovely rain here for the last few hours, at times it was pelting down, it is still raining and I am hoping it will continue also hoping it is raining in our catchment area. Our three water tanks are all overflowing.

After being able to use the laptop fiirst thing yesterday, couldn't get on the internet or mail or anything. It appears that a transmitter was down,I felt as if my right arm had been chopped off, needless to say when someone had paid the electricity bill for the transmitter :S we had 15 e mails come in UGHHHH
Still at least I can now converse with my GR Friends.

Still no rain here in Norfolk, been threatened and feels stormy but nowt has happened, Put in all our bedding plants this morning so could do with the rain, but instead OH had to water with the hose, as we are on a meter, the water board must have been rubbing their hands with glee . I will follow the instructions given above and get some research notes on. Does that mean we could ask each other about the areas we are researching ? It would have been nice if we had had some sort of warning and advice Heigh Ho.

Seems only 42 % of us turned out for the elections on Thursday, I have to say it was all pretty painless, but some will moan about anything..

Greenfingers Report 8 May 2011 09:22

Sunday... all the plants are in and we have had a few spots of rain,,,oh for some more the soil is so dry and hard, you almost need a hammer and chisel to cut out a hole for a plant !!

OH plans to tackle the compost heap this week...as we are fast running out of "good soil" . Still now we are on our own we only need one container, we used to have four, but two have gone to good homes and the other small one is about too. Our council gave you the opportunity to but compost containers a few years ago, and we took advantage of it, as we have a large garden. Needless to say there is always stuff that can't go in the bin, and OH is a regular visitor to our local tip, which is just down the road. Cannot and will not understand why people !fly tip! there is no excuse in our area at least, yes sometimes you have to wait, but if you pick your day its easy.

Anyway, now going to make batter up for Toad in the Hole. Have a good visit and wedding blessing Spanish Eyes, hope your husband enjoys the pork recipe.

regards

It rained all day yesterday and most of last night, we have driuzzle on and off to-day and now the sun is trying to peep through.

I am well pleased with the photographs I printed, it makes all the difference having the correct photogtaphic paper and I am glad I waited.

Bridget I am interested to know about your avatar.

The Sunday paper is missing the section with all my crossword puzzles, I am having withdrawal symptoms. :-)

Val
My Avatar...well first I had to look up what "avatar" means so to day i had a new learning experience.
My Avatar is a photo of where lived in Frinton on Sea in Essex, England. it is in fact a lovely photo but have realised that it does not look good on here. So I may change it to something else when I came back from the UK visit

I should be packing but the weather is soo nice today, OH has gone to the local to watch a football match and I have been sitting in the gardens.

well must show willing so off now to get the suitcases down

18.38 hrs Spain ;-) :P
