Morning all! hope you had a really good night's kip Daffers (and Mr Daffers too of course - he must have been worried)
I am sorry to hear about your little doggie Maz - such a large part of our lives are our pets, aren't they? it will take some time for you to come to grips with things, I know it did me when my Toby went, and I couldnt bear to walk down the pet food section at the supermarket for ages I remember.
Hope everyone has a good day - bit overcast and grey here in Notts, and not too warm - I might be forced to do some housework to keep warm (or else put on another cardi)
Bi for now

Aw Maz, I am so sorry to hear about your dog..... what a lovely long life she had, in a home where she was so adored... my two were 14 when I had to make that decision.... and some might remember Belle, my cat, last year... she was at least 18. They are so much a part of our lives, so I know how hard that decision must have been for you to make... God bless you for giving her a peaceful and dignified end to a lovely life. Oh, and no probs at all for offloading.... that is what friends are for, isn't it? And this is such a lovely friendly thread..... xxx
Hiya Jean, we are both improving, thank you... to the extent that we have been able to tease each other about who actually HAD proper Man Flu, lol!! I think I have won that one, lolol Hope all is well your end??? Take care, both xxxxxx
Hiya Jude... so, don't you dare go away again or take your eye off me, lololol ;¬)))
I have been supervising R from the conservatory.... which is lovely and warm. I am wearing shorts and vest, but shove thick socks and a fleece on if I need to go outside, lol Your garden will be wonderful when you've got it to your liking..... imagine all those long evenings, sat outside with a nice glass of pop, lol looking out on your handiwork? I know I am cheating by getting in the experts to do the hard work, but I still get loads of pleasure, and can't wait until the side and the side/front is done (the very front is phase three and involves removal of a tatty caravan, lol) Enjoy!!
Hiya Taff..... Well, I escaped by bribing the lovely young doctor, lolol... he is very tiny, has the most beautiful smile, but the weirdest bedside manner you have ever come across... he is getting better, as some of us patients have been teaching him, much to the amusement of the nurses!! He is Sri Lankan, and speaks superb English, but can sometimes come across as a bit blunt and brusque... but he isn't, he is lovely!! So... every time he is solely responsible for the rounds, I seem to end up having to have an unpleasant procedure recommended.. he doesn't always carry them out, although he did do one of my bone marrow thingies...... so I said that if he let me go home I would let the nurses do the procedure he had just recommended, lol.... but if I had to stay in I wasn't going to play, lol So, I let a nurse, under supervision, practice shoving tubes up my nose and dragging my last remaining braincell out of hiding. So here I am! ;¬))
Hiya Shimms, so pleased you had a wonderful time in God's own country!! xxxx I shall wait until I am off the antibiotics before I have the steak.... one needs to have a bottle of wine with a good steak, I think, lol ;¬)) Can't wait!!
Jac.... go fetch yer cardi... you know it makes sense, lol!! R is ok now, but yes, he was a bit worried for a while, bless him. The cough I have is very like croup, so that always sounds scary, anyway! But he is thrilled to bits about my bloods... he is a very quiet bloke, so to hear him so animated talking to my family about them was a bit of an eyeopener, lol
Hiya Liz... his man-flu is getting better... and he lost the competition anyway, lolol..... I got a night in hospital, so must have been worserer than him, lolol Don't worry about the plants, plenty of time.... whenever you are ready, or when we meet next, whichever is soonest, lol!!
*hides shorts and skimpy vest* Yep, BC, I am staying warm... *uncrosses fingers* WMSL .... how very ungrateful of them lolol... you will just have to stop being the hostess with the mostess, lol Mind you.... R had a colleague who was Texan, ove... boy, did I love his accent!! And when he was first introduced to me, he called me Marm, in just such a way *shivers*. Tall, dark and handsome, he was. His wife was tall, blonde and stunningly beautiful, too.... Fortunately, she was equally besotted with R's quiet tones, and ever so slightly Welsh accent, lol so understood my fixation perfectly... when she and I got a little, erm, oiled ;`)) we shared these confidences. She never quite forgave R for introducing him to rugby, though.... *what!! no padding!!* lol Only one more sleep to go!!! ;¬))) Maybe your little Dragon needs extra long walks in the park???
Hi Huia.... hope things are ok with you at the moment? Have you been able to get some decent sleep? take care xxxxxx
Blue Moon... no hot toddy!! I am on antibiotics.... but just wait til they are finished next weekend!! ;¬))
~~~~ waves to Mamiddau xx
Jen, I'm about 6d ha'penny at the moment, so getting there, lololol xx
*Tries to glare at Ann - ends up laughing* This is about as normal as I get, lol... please stop making me laugh cos it makes me cough, that brings R running armed with thermometer, cough linctus, Paramol, and anything else he can think of, lol Poor man started off at 6ft 2ins 7 months ago... he is now 4ft 6ins, his little legs have all worn away with it!
Must go.. am running out of characters, lol..
Love and ((hugs))
Oh Daff, that had me laughing, your poor R. worn away bless him, what a picture it conjures up of long legs getting worn down to short stubby ones lol
So glad you are home to do the supervising tho and you take care, even if you do have delightful doctors, no need to keep rushing back in lol
Hi there Daff.
I have been getting a reasonable amount of sleep but still feel as if I need more. Maybe it is the tabs I am taking, 'may cause sleepiness'. The previous lot said the same but since taking this new lot I have been so bone tired.
My darling OH had 2 breakfasts today. First at about 7am, 2nd at 2pm. I told him it wasnt breakfast time but he didnt believe me, even when he looked at his watch. He made me feel hungry so I made one of those choc cakes in a mug in the m/wave. I actually mix it in a bowl as it is easier to mix without spilling then put it into 2 mugs so it doesnt overflow, and I can give one to OH and feel good for not eating so much!
Huia.
Morning Huia.... my blood pressure tablets were like that, and now that I haven't taken them for a while, I do wonder if they contributed to the overall feeling of tiredness I have had for a few years now.... well before my bone marrow decided to do a teenage rebellion thing and go all deadly on me, lol That is why I thought I had an under active thyroid!! That cake in a cup sounds good.....I don't do cake very often, but mum and my sisters do, and that would impress them whenever they came to visit, lolol
~~~~waves to Liz... he's gone off to work today for some peace and quiet, lol And left me to my own devices.... but I think my sister might be popping over so I'd get told off good and proper if I did too much!! Plus I feel fine if I am standing or sitting still... soon as I start talking or walking round, I cough for Europe... very impressive it sounds, too... and my voice is all husky when it decides to play... but it is still as changeable as a 14 year old choirboys, lolol!!
~~~~~~~~ waves to Maz, bless him, he will settle down though, in a day or two.
Well.... off to find some work not to do... isn't it a beautiful day? Garden I think... R bought me high factor sun tan cream (only ever needed low factor before, I don't burn easily, tan well, but don't sunbathe as such, anyway, just play in the garden) but my skin is very sensitive to the sun now, and will be for a little while.... hope my sister brings my sunglasses!! I have a feeling her dog has eaten them and she doesn't like to tell me, lol.... but they were only a fiver and although they have been good, easily replaceable, lolol
I know!! She can take me out shopping!! I'll drive though, cos I can, now!
Love to you all
Daff, dont tell me you havent seen that recipe for a quickie choc cake in a coffee mug?
Instructions say to mix it in a large m/wave proof coffee mug but I find it easier to mix in a small bowl then put it into mug/s.
4tbsp flour, 4tbsp sug, 2 tbsp cocoa mixed well. Add 1 egg and mix well. Add 3 tbsp milk and 3 tbsp oil and mix well. 3 tbsp choc chips optional. Small splash of vanilla. Put into large coffee mug (or 2) and put in m/wave to cook for 3 mins at 1000 watts (I do mine on Med Hi). If in 1 mug it might overflow.
Not quite as tasty as another choc cake I used to make, but so quick. Just dont burn your tongue eating it.
Huia, following OH to bed soon (now 8.43pm)
|
*hangs head in shame* no Huia... and if I have I can't remember, lol.... but I shall c & P this and use it to impress!! lol Thank you!Sweet dreams!
So he might have an excuse:
Their ability to turn a sniffle into flu and a headache into a migraine has long been a source of irritation to wives and girlfriends.
But man flu may not be a myth after all, with research showing men really are the weaker sex.
Researchers found that the female immune system is more powerful than the male one - and women have their hormones to thank. Research on mice found females are protected by the hormone oestrogen which boosts the immune system's first line of attack on bacteria
The study showed that the female sex hormone, oestrogen, boosts the immune system's first line of attack on bacteria and other invaders.
