Think its them as I have had a contact from a lady on here and she has the same family listed on her's. Will try and check for definate 1st though.

Funny thing is you found a birth for a Abraham Webster and my Mum said she couldnt remember him but remembered all the rest. Wonder if he could have died as a baby gonna have to check. Now we have a Abraham here too and they had a tendency to follow the names of their siblings and families.

I really don't know what it should be..it could of been when someone was transcribing the orginal births they might not been able to read/make out what was written, because it was that old fashion writing..if that makes sense

On my Grandad Harold's Birth Certificate his Mother is down as Thurza Webster formerly Hopson.

That was in 1923.

Yeah thats what I was wondering. As their births are registered as Hobson would that mean that is actually their true surname?

What i would be interested to know is when or why did the spelling of their surname change from Hobson to Hopson..or if it was a genuine mistake
