Hi Gerri,

Thanks for the brownie points, lol.

I thought it was the 1841 birth at first, then realised that that one wouldn't be on the 1841 census.

This could possibly be the son George's birth reference (it fits with his age on the 1841 census):-

Name: George Pool
Year of Registration: 1840
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Wolverhampton
County: Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands
Volume: 17
Page: 323

You would need to give his father's name as a reference checking point to be sure it's the right one. This would give Jemima's maiden name.

For the future

I search the Pool* death for Wolverhampton 1856 +/- 5 years until I found one that fitted.

For the census, I took the most uncommon name that was unlikely to be misspelt (Daniel) & did a search of the 1841 census using just Daniel, Staffordshire & DOB 1835

KathleenBell Report 24 Nov 2007 00:41

I'm not surprised they were mistranscribed in 1841 - the image is barely legible!!!

Well I would spell it Jemima, but I suppose it could be any way they wanted to spell it - just to make it more difficult for you, lol.

Ok egg heads!

whats the correct spelling?

Jamima ?

KathleenBell Report 24 Nov 2007 00:29

I think it could be a mis-spelling of Jemima as Claire says. The first letter is very much like the first letter of the name George further down the page.
