Its great to look at the service history of your ancestors ,unless you are like me and are useless at getting them!!! With help I got grandads naval service history then found ( with help from other GR members) that g g grandad was also in the navy so tried to get his documents also.... and failed miserably. Only had his name etc from census returns, do I need his service number? |

No you don't need his service number to order the documents but of course there is the possibility they are not there! |

Hi Chris, Yes I did try but then I did the same thing for his grandson and could not get the record until I had his service number, ( provided through the people here), problem is I do not know how to get that myself ! |

Thanks Chris, as I get older my attention span is getting shorter, I start to look at the research guides but something else takes my attention and I go off at a tangent, the last time it was the trefalgar lists!!! |

Hi Joan, Is this the same Joan who helped give me the adm reference a couple days ago? From what Chris has said it looks as though the service period is to early for on line doc's but what about paper copies are they possible ? He is George Hardy born Stoke Damerel 21st May 1818 |
