Hi Julie

Do they work like that. What did you say to them, want to say the right thing.

Did you subscribe for a year as I can't see anything less, except a month. I was doing it quarterly and can't see this option now.

Sue I am sure I saw an offer the other day when I was searching about. I think it was in an email from them. Perhaps it was lost cousins again. My mind has gone blank and I have deleted the email. Good luck Irene

When your sub expires you can usually carry on using ancestry for a couple of weeks. Then you get an email offering a reduced price usually.

Failing that, sign up to quidco.com and get 15% as a cash back by subbing through them.

I got my sub for £55 earlier this year AFTER Id paid full whack - told them I was disappointed as so many members on my family history forum had got it for £55 - why was I having to pay so much more. A bit of umming and arring and they came back and said they had refunded the £80 to my card and then taken out £55.

Though I read a few had been turned down when they recently tried it.

Heather, I was lucky, my sub actually expired a month ago, so they were generous in letting me accessing the records for so long after.I only expired because credit card expired, otherwise it would have carried on. I was waiting to see how long it would be before I was cut off.
What I would really like is to subscribe to the whole thing(American records as well), wondering what sort of discount they would give for that.

I find it a bit annoying really, seeing as they can offer these discounts, why don't they just charge the lower rate in the first place.

Im pretty sure I saw the world ancestry at virtually half price recently - but Im blowed where it was - have you tried a google search? Try the old, wait to see what they offer you email then go to ancestry, start to fill in the sub form and then leave - I seem to remember a message comes up offering you deals if you do that.

Martin, my cousin wants to join Ancestry for the first time, so it would be very helpful if you could either post the link or pm me.

Thanks very much.

Is it best to speak to sales or customer services? My call a few minutes ago to customer services was fruitless in terms of renewal discount even though they readily admitted I could achieve a lower subscription price externally.

I e-mailed them last thursday and asked what about a bit of loyalty to long standing users.I have been with them 3 years and always paid the full price.I asked them if we could have a few days here and there of the deluxe world one.We might want to subscribe. Its says on there site will reply on the next working day.I am still waiting. If you can get a 20% discount for a newbie, just let your sub run out and then use the link - Martin - where is it? - and use a different email addy - thats usually enough to get registered as a new sub.

I reckon us old members should get a discount mount up every year - bit like no claims bonuses as we have got most of the info we can from ancestry but we just feel lost without having it on tap.

Heather letting your sub run out wont work. They have your name as a guest member so still on their records. You would need to use a different name and e mail address.
