Im very confused by my GGG Grandad, Robert Redhead who on the 1851 census is listed as being born in the isle of man. |

Well yes, if they were born one place but move to another at an early age I expect they would believe they had always been there. But the isle of Man is pretty specific isnt it - not a place where there would have been a lot of movement to and fro the mainland. |

People sometimes gave the nearest big place to their actual place of birth. At other times they might give the place they were brought up. |

No I havent kathleen, i went on an IOM family history site and went through everything i could to look for Redheads in any of the districts at the time but had no luck, |

Ive just looked Heather and they are listed as married 1856, there was a 14 year age gap and childrens ages seem ok |

Why are you sure that is the marriage though? You would be best off buying one of the kids birth certs to see what mums maiden name is. Then you will be sure the marriage is right. |

Im not sure heather, just very few Redheads there at time so putting 2 and 2 together, had hannah and robert.....must get certs lol! |
