We’re changing the name of Genes Connected to Genes Reunited and wanted you to be the first to know. Most people call it that already, so we’ve finally given in. Don’t worry it’s still the same site and you will still be able to access the site from GenesConnected.co.uk. Hope you continue to enjoy the site. We’re spending the summer making it even better! Please leave our GC as it is. Will Friends Reunited be known as Friends Connected? You can't reunite genes - a better name would be Rellies Reunited! LOL Sue P.S. PLEASE do something about the speed of the site. I am so tired of getting the message 'the page cannot be displayed'. I thought it was just me, but there are many other members complaining about how slow the site is lately.

I have to post this message as a reply as I cannot e-mail you, it keeps telling me to complete all fields even though they are all completed. I have found that since updating your site the page number that you are viewing is no longer shown. As most of us view a lot of messages per page it is confusing trying to remember which page you are on when you want to progress to the next page. As you are returned to page one after emailing a member it is even more confusing to try and find out where you were. Regards Christina

Tooooo late, they've done it. Much as I loved him, I don't want to be reunited with my father just yet, thank you very much. It will remain GC to me, regardless of the name in the top corner, or the URL.

Look as I am no spring chicken I will get reunited with them soon enough and I certainly do not want it to be NOW thank you. They are causing me enough trouble at the moment trying to find them and here you are trying to reunite me with them. Pat

Never heard such a load of bang-me-arse!! I've never heard it referred to as genes reunited and the name makes no sense. Please leave it alone and don't fiddle for the sake of fiddling. We like it as it is. Thank you. Keith May

I know I'm 51 this year and my kids think I'm past it!,and I'm getting such a thrill out of discovering my rellies (and frustrated when I can't).But there's no way I want to be reunited with them not for a long time yet anyway..... as far as I'm concerned I'm connecting with them..........and that's that !!!!!. I sent this message to the 'feedback' option. I'll add another post to let everyone know if I get a reply, though I know others have not been so lucky. Like many other subscribers I am dismayed that the name of the site has been changed without consultation with your paying subscribers - research? what research? No-one asked me. Who called it Genes Reunited in spite of its name? The name Genes Connected accurately describes the funcion of the site and if there was any mistake I imagine it was in the site being referred to as Genes Reconnected not Genes Connected. Genes Reunited does not reflect the function of the site in the same way. That is why the sister site is called Friends Reunited - it reunites living people, this site reconnects people living and dead. It is a side issue that a function of Genes Connected has become to reunite the missing with their relatives. Just listen to the pompous gripes of those who consider themselves 'serious researchers'. Looking at the boards there is no support for the name change. Please reconsider it in the light of the wishes of your subscribers.

Having been abrad recently I have only just discovered the name of the site has been changed and I am completely baffled by the Administrators reasoning. My reaction/reply is addressed to the Admin staff. Surely as you are a Fee based operation, you should have consulted your Fee Payers before making such a glaring mistake. The messages already posted make the members feelings abundantly clear, i.e. A return to the original and more suitable name of Genes Connected would be preferred. From some of the remarks I've read, it seems that there are other alternative sites out there now, so to retain Fee Paying membership you should heed the Members wishes in this and consult before acting in the future. What I would like to know,who are the most people who call it Genes Reunited?,Friends Reunited yes. Have to agree with all the comments made so far,Im another one who doesnt want to be reunited with past rellies just yet. Another idiotic change in my opinion,totally unnecessary. Bring back G.C
