Doesn't help that I'm so crap with computers. Not sure what I did this morning but I've managed to delete Adobe Acrobat and just had to re-download that!

Hope you get it sorted Lou, as I know it would drive me mad if it didn't work. I would be e.mailing ancestry every 5 mins till the sorted it.

Siobhan I have no idea what you just said BUT it worked fine up to last Tuesday and has done since I joined in...whenever it was (I bought 6 months!). I'm currently in the process of attempting to do whatever Walter told me to do and hope I don't wipe my entire hard drive in the process. Pooters are NOT me! Lou x

it might have something to do with active x viewer, perhaps you haven't one installed especially if you have xp service pack two, as it would of blocked the download upon loading the page.

Er....NO! But at this stage I'm willing to try anything once!

Lou, have you tried downloading the viewer again with the hope that it overwrites your current one which may have a fault?

Ok...well my knowledge of computers can be written on the back of a 1st class stamp so can someone tell me how to delete the viewer and reload it. I remember switching to the enhanced viewer but I don't think I ever had to download the basic one. It just worked!

Siobhan I first e mailed them Tuesday of last week to flag up the problem. Sent a 2nd e mail yesterday when I realised I still couldn't view the images. So far no response to either e mail Lou OH ACTUALLY...I'm lying! They sent me a lovely e mail reminding me of my password which I was putting in correctly in the 1st place!

have they not responded to any of your e.mail at all. If they have not replied, then I can see why you would want to send a snotty e.mail as so would I. Send one stating that unless the issue is sorted you will not be renewing your membership. I bet you will get a quick response then.

Its definitely not that either. I connect thru AOL, Mark thru Wanadoo!

it could be your internet provider is slow with downloads. but probably not. No more suggestions I am afraid.

Siobhan Tried both and makes no difference Tried disc clean up, tried de-fragging. It's not a problem with my comp, its with them, or it would work on Mark's and it doesn't Lou

have you tried switching between the advanced and basic viewer to see if that helps.

For over a week now I've been unable to download images. I can click on view image, the image appears but the download status bar never even moves and an hour later the screen remains fuzzy and unreadable. I've checked my subscription and that's okay till 25th Feb 2005, so it isn't that its expired. I've e mailed them twice but so far had no reply and this afternoon I tried logging onto ancestry using hubbie's computer and its exactly the same so it isn't a problem with my laptop. Given the length of time I've been 'without' it and the fact that I've already sent two very polite e mails requesting help, do you think I'm justified in now sending a rather snotty one AND asking for an extension to my sub to allow for the time I've not been able to use it? It's obviously not a Universal problem cos Heather, Rosemary and Tracy have all been able to obtain the images I need and send them to me!
