Why is the site so slow at responding when I am trying to access my, and my contacts family trees? It's so slow that I am giving up and logging out. Any one else having this problem?........Lyn. That's it, I'm giving up. I've waited 30 mins this evening for my family tree page to open so that I can update details. Cookies and files are all empty so that won't be slowing me down. Giving up and logging out.

Yes Lyn I have found it very slow too, I have written to GR to complain and ask if it will always be like this, but so far I have not had a reply. Regards Jill

Thank's for the replies guys. Come on GR if it's been like this for days why is it? At least reply to people questions... Another thing I find irritating, can't something be done about the messages. Can't read half of them as the text is so squashed in it is really hard to read at times.

I have been on this site for nearly 2 years now, and it has always been slow at times. Usualy it is fast for a few days and then slows down for a few weeks at a time. I dont think it will ever improve.

I'm on broadband but I have noticed it's slower to load since they changed the site round Jeanette x

I am on Broadband as well, and sometimes it takes so long to load names summary and looking at my tree, that I dont bother anymore. It has really put me off. I have proberly missed loads of new names but I just cant be bothered.

Theres one way to speed this up.............. EVERYONE log off except me :o)) Gerri (only a suggestion) lol

Is the site running at super speed now, as I have just gone on my boyfriends computer as mine is being used by my little boy. And it just loads the page superfast. I wondered if it is his computer or the site has speeded up. My computer is meant to be faster than his though.

Does your computer need housekeeping done to it? If you have a lot of redundant cache files or temp files or whatever, or if the files are very scattered, the computer will run more slowly. There's a Computer housekeeping thread on here somewhere. if I remember what it's called I'll nudge it up for you. Christine PS - We had problems with one of our browsers being verrrry slowwww, and it miraculously speeded up after my husband ran some housekeeping software.

Christine I think that could be the reason that mine is running slower. As my computer is used more than his and proberly stored up with so many GR pages it needs getting rid of. Thanks Debbie

Ok I am so excited, since the update my computer has been running so slow and the man in the box in the right hand side was really getting on my nerves. Well, boyfriend has just done the thing where you empty all the cache thingys and it is super speed, and guess what? My man has disappeared. I am so happy and cant believe I have put up with it for all this time.

Linda I always had my text set to 'Largest' before the revamp. I have reset it to 'large' now as I like you couldnt read any messages. Gerri

Yes it slow could not agree more, its boring obiously need a larger server. Come on GR wake up? do they read these boards.

What is going on - all I keep getting is Page cannot be found - Then you try again and sometimes - not always - the page is there - I am getting really fed up with it - now if I send a message to anyone I always copy it first so that I don't have to re type it - I repeat genes reunited WHAT IS GOING ON we know you are busy - but that is because we pay you - please sort things out - sorry about that - but I do feel better now!!

Christopher I was one of those people that always read delete your cookies, and never did but I still complained that it wasnt working properly. Tonight Boyfriend did it and now It is just so fast cant believe I have waited this long. Please everybody do it, it really does make a big difference.

Hi I'm new to GR so I might sound a bit thick... but my problem is: I'm a full member and I can't access another family tree, even though I have permission. I've emailed 3 times to GR and no reply. I'm getting so frustrated by it as I'm going round in circles. With regards to speed I'm having no problems but I put that down to I'm using it when you guys are sleeping :-) However I get heaps of 'this page not available'.

Thank's to everyone why has replied. Geri---- good thinking batman. I do empty my cookies and files regularly, while I am browsing, and at end of computer session. Number 2 son nags me all the time to do that. And as for the text size, I've altered it now and it's much better. Thank's all. ........ Lyn
