They're both single in 1881, so they must've got married between the two censuses... if they /did/ get married....

yer i have found elizabeth being single in 81 census but john quinn seems to b a commonish name lol i cant seem to track him down i have found a couple of possiblities of him but saying that there eldest kid was born in 1885 i found it easier looking for the marriage on daughter martha lol

I think your surname might be wrong... I found this marriage, and it was the only John Quinn and Elizabeth there was between 1881 and 1891... John Quinn & Elizabeth Waite Berwick Vol 10b Page 537 Marriage Dec 1882

ill start from the beginning lol granddad was george quinn ive got his birth certificate born in 1897 to john and elizabeth quinn as mam and dad elizabeth it say formally keagan anna i suppose it could b a possiblity for the spellings to b rong couldnt it because whilst searching for elizabeths family keagan has been spelt 2 or 3 different ways dont make things easy do they lol

Anna Report 11 Mar 2005 08:23

Why dont you ring Sunderland civic centre or post a letter to them and ask them to find the cert for you,If you give them a year, maybe that one where the names are spelled incorrectly, and mention their(John and Elizabeths) parents names, hopefully you should find out if its the correct one or not. I get most of my local certs from Sunderland instead of the GRO cos I just send my mum down to ask for them, then if they are busy, they will ring her when they have done the certs,or sometimes she gets them while she waits. Anna Report 11 Mar 2005 09:14

I know that when my mum has gone to the civic centre in Sunderland for a certificate, and theres been a discrepancy, either with a name or something else, theyve rung her to ask her who the father was or what the address was or something like that to make sure shes got the right cert. I know they dont do that at the GRO but local registrars offices are much more helpful(Well the ones Ive dealt with are anyway) Anna :-)
