Easiest way would be to buy the cert. You could try to trawl the 1861 census, but that's only really possible if there is at least a name on the BMD register. Which BMD have you looked at?

Hi Tracey Looked on FreeBMD and Ancestry (same copies I think) Ann x

This one? John Bell abt 1827 Midelton, Durham, England Lodger Hedworth, Monkton and Jarrow Durham William Blaylock abt 1854 Laverck Wall, Durham, England Visitor Hedworth, Monkton and Jarrow Durham Elizabeth Cummins abt 1804 Midlton, Durham, England Wife Hedworth, Monkton and Jarrow Durham George Cummins abt 1798 Lanchester, Durham, England Head Hedworth, Monkton and Jarrow Durham I found these on Ancestry. Just typed in Elizabeth, born 1804 +/-2yrs, born Mid*n, living Durham. If you subscribe to 1837online, or thegenealogist you can search for George Cummins in the same quarter as this Elizabeth. If the page numbers match, it's a good possibility that they married.

If you're desperate to know the answer, order the cert; if you can wait then try again after FreeBMD's next update which I'm sure must be coming soon. Kate.

Just checked that quarter - no sign of George. 1856 images are also available on FreeBMD if you want to have a trawl through them.

Tracey The William Blaylock is my GGGrandf - trying to prove that Elizabeth was Brignall when she married George and also a widow having married Brignall around 1825/8 to find her maiden name (hodgson) and therefore link her as Williams Aunt as in 1871 he was still with Elizabeth but listed as a nephew - does that make any sense?? No father on marriage certs for William who married twice and cannot positively find Williams birth but if I can prove Elizabeth Brignall married George Cummins I may make some sort of breakthrough Ann x

1871 has both Visitor and Nephew written on the image. Very confusing. There's this birth record, but it's a bit late for yours.... BLAYLOCK William - 1860 - Durham Northern Can't find this one on the census though.

Ann

Ann Report 21 Jul 2005 23:41

William has always been born 1854 through all census from 1861 - 1901 and always born at Laverick Hall - all census and marriage certs - he has to be the most consistant rellie with no mother or father yet established lol Ann

Both those blow my theory straight out of the water!!!!!!!!!!! In 1881 Elizabeth would appear to be in Darlington with her sister a widow called Ann Dodds but then I could not find a marriage for Ann marrying Mr Dodds - But then I have been looking for an Ann Hodgson to marry Dodds to prove my theory ?? YorkshireBMD is only really any good if you have rellies in Leeds or Hull. I've tried, and failed, countless times to find my rellies on there lol
