This morning I received a birth certificate of Louisa Mary Ann Herbert on the certificate it said she was born at 'Dolphin Yard, Pinston Street, Sheffield in May 1853 and the parents (John & Ann) lived at the same address. I cannot find anything on John & Ann (formerly Clark) ever getting married, which I assume was in Sheffield somewhere and I cannot find a Dolphin Yard in Sheffield. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. Sylvia xxx

It seems to be now called PinstonE Street. I wonder if there was a public house called The Dolphin there. Jim

Thank you Vicky & Jim. I have found a Dolphin Street, I don't know if this is the same. Does anyone come from Sheffield and would you know if this is what it was called in the 1850's ?

HI Angela, No I have not found them on any census, although I have not be able to look on the 1851, I know that John Herbert got married again in 1859 in London to Elizabeth.So I am assuming maybe his first wife died between 1853-1859. I cannot find anything on a marriage or death. I am wondering if I am missing something, I thought maybe another set of eyes would help .......Sylvia xxx
