Alexander Hara born 1848/1852 ish..... married on 23 August 1869 and died on 16 june 1896. He is on the 1861 census with his family, dad, mam, brother and sister, but i cannot find him on the 1881 census anywhere with his own wife and children.......Help please...... Wife Margaret Bowie (or Bowey) Jobson Hara Ann Hara daughter born aprox 1874 Margaret Bowie Jobson Hara born 17/12/1876 Thomas Hara born aprox 1872 Please can anyone find them thank you

well i had a look and it does seem quite possible. He was a butcher journey man as i had known before. That meaning he was qualified and went about working as and where required on a paid by the day basis. (or so i understand) maybe he had big ideas in 1871.

yes marlene that is my lot as i understand it . Alexander was dead by 1891. They also had 2 children Thomas and Robert Alexander who both died age 0. Rather sad. I dont have the Ellen though so will have to have another look.

yvonne, no i'm sure thats not my gg grandfather as i have his death cert for 16 june 1896. Thats not to say it isnt a rellie to my haras though. they all love naming each other after other family members. Very confusing. Thanks though. I will have a look out of curiosity. I am sick of getting O haras up when i know we had no O. At least at this time. Ann

yup, i have the cert for that and as i say his death which was attendedby his daughter margaret, well i think its his daughter. She is down as margaret henderson.

Well it looks like they definately had a domestic servant in the early days and then the poor man was ill by 1891 and had to go into an institution It looks like it was certainly him

the maguire name is interesting too..... i know there were maguires in the family, my grandma had a cousin with that name. i wonder who margaret henderson was then

my problem with him being in the institution is i know he was dead by then. so it must be a cousin or something i guess

No Ann he wasn't dead he died in 1896 I gave you the census for him in 1891 I think it was him Maybee the matron was henderson?

he also had a sister called margaret according to the 1861 census so maybe she married a henderson?

god i think i need my glasses on...... doh..... your right.... it does look like it could be him where would rest of them be.... doh found them before of course..... how is it you cant see the wood for the trees... lol....... still need to find them in 1881 though...... any suggestions gratefully received..... do you think its catching , he was my great great grandfather through blood lines.... pmsl
