Why do people post requests for lookups, wait until you've researched almost their entire history and then a week later post exactly the same request and get other people to find the same information????

because they are idiots? because they think we are here at their beck and call to serve? because they value their own time more than ours?

because they are ignorant

My thoughts exactly. I can understand confusion, and asking a question about something you found, but to copy exactly the same request and repost it? That's just stupid.

Heather, I think the latter is prevalent in this case lol It just winds me up sometimes, especially when it's not easy stuff to find. Sorry guys - I just needed to vent :)

Are some people posting several threads about the same query. within about an hour or two, or is it me being thick? Some people seem to post for help and advice and then ignore what people suggest. Jay

Yes, Jay. That happens too. I'm not sure what they want the answer to be, but it obviously isn't the one they got lol

Much better are the ones that pose a bit of a problem, they are always marked DESPERATE or something dramatic, people find the solutions and .... ...... ....you never hear any more.

Hi Folks, I can well understand your frustration. It's not that we want people slobbering over us and touching their forelock becuse we have provided information, just a brief 'thank you very much' would be nice! However, I've found a way round this. If I have really put myself out to look for something, I not only post the reply on the boards, but I PM the person too! Most people on here are great; but you will always find muppets, thickos and just plain ignorant people everywhere in life! Don't let it embitter you - just mentally note who didn't respond and ignore them next time. Cheers, Lynn

Guilty as charged, once or twice. My computer crashed and although I had most of my family tree stuff printed out, there were a few bits I lost. Although I think I did state that the original answers were deleted in my re-request. It was only an Ancestry look-up or two, so it didn't cost anyone extra money.

Twinkle, that is a different kettle of fish, especially if you stated that the original information was lost. I expect you would have re-worded the question entirely so people knew exactly what you were after. The thing I'm talking about is a question directly copied from the original with no amendments made.

I had two that I posted the information, two minutes later refreshed the thread to see if they had seen what I put up...............and they'd deleted it!!! Not so much as yes/no thats them or not and no THANKYOU!!!

Now /that/ is annoying. I must admit though, I am guilty of deleting threads when I realise I already know the answer. I always check to make sure no-one has posted before I delete it though.
