Hi Tom, Yes, I agree. It is far more fun to discover stuff yourself than to copy. Besides, how do they know what they are copying is accurate. Many mistakes get continuously replicated if people don't check any information they are given. Cheers, Horatia I am only interested in having a tree that bears some semblance to accuracy. I can't see the point in having a tree that is just one huge fairy tale!

Andy Your not old or miserable---this has happened to me a couple of times and I really get annoyed!!! They only have to ask permision to take some of your tree---surely it's common etiquette!!

That same old chestnut rears it's ugly head again. If you must have living relatives on here then put 'Living' as their first name. This site does warn you not to having living relatives on here without their permission. I do so have to agree with the views of Horatia, Heather Leah and Phoenix so I won't reiterate except to say as I did on another similar thread last night: Don't open your tree to anyone unless you want to share it with the world. They do not have to ask your permission to copy it , by opening it you have given them permission whether you like it or not. I know it would be courteous to ask but remember that the people on here are a cross section of the population as a whole, some are nice, some are not and some are indifferent, that's life. Happy hunting Kat

Lisa - to remove permission go to Messages - choose the contacts tab and uncheck the box for the one you wish to remove. Personally, I have resolved this problem by keeping my full tree on FTM at home. I take a copy of it, clear it of living rellies, save a GEDCOM and upload that. If someone wants to use my data, that's fine. If they fail to check it for accuracy, that's their problem. Linda
