Hi Jennifer. I said the same thing on a posting on this site a couple of years ago and the support, encouragement, advice and help I got helped things take off. I have hit a few of the brick walls along the way and come back time and time again and the help is still there. Only this week I have learned of some pretty good prospects from one of the Tips Board members. So give it a try, you can't go wrong. Roger GC

Excellent!!! Thanks so much was really starting to lose hope, ok is there any website i can actually get to look at birth, death and marriage certs etc, so i can try and gain more info?? Youve been brill Thanks

Christine

Christine Report 16 Mar 2006 22:31

There isn't a website where you can look at certs. You have found the ancestry site I take it. Find the various registration numbers you need and then you can order the certs from the GRO (General Registration Office)- now the expenses start mounting up!! www.gro.gov.uk. Certs cost £7 if ordered over internet. If you are a member of ancestry, you can look at census images and various other databases. Another site worth keeping in mind is www.familysearch.org, although be sceptical of any information that is submitted, not actually copied from parish records. The 1881 census is free to search on this site. Have fun and don't be afraid to ask for help - someone here will always try to find an answer for you, or point you in the right direction.
