Has anyone got any suggestions? I've found this family on the 1841 and 1851 but they seem to vanish afterwards.

1841 St Peters Street, Saffron Hill, Middlesex Daniel SULLIVAN 30 skin dresser Ireland Mary 20 Ireland Elizabeth 5 Middlesex Mary 3 Middlesex Daniel 1 Middlesex 1851 2 Clarks Court, Saffron Hill, Middlesex Daniel SULLIVAN 43 fur skin dresser Kerry, Ireland Mary 35 Kerry Ireland Besty 15 french polisher Middlesex Mary 13 artificial flower maker Middlesex Daniel 11 Middlesex Sarah 9 Middlesex John 7 Middlesex Maurice 5 Middlesex Patrick 1 Middlesex Mary married in January 1861 and was living in Saffron Hill at the time of the 1861 census but I can't find any of the others. On her marriage certificate, her father is still a skin dresser and not recorded as deceased. The witnesses are Daniel and Elizabeth Sullivan - presumably brother or father and sister. There is this chap on the 1861 - Daniel Sullivan abt 1806 Kerry, Ireland Inmate St Sepulchre Widower but he's recorded as a bricklayer's labourer and even if it was him, what's happened to all the others? There seems to be nothing of them except a possible Mary & Daniel junior in Clerkenwell in 1871

Hi Joanne I don't think they can be - Patrick is about ten years older than mine and presumably Mary would be sister to this Daniel and Patrick - I'm descended from my Daniel & Patrick's sister Mary (Adams) Thanks for looking:)

Ahhh thanks Alter - will have a look at other Sullivans in St Olave. Sorry, Joanne - I have checked that one out. Catherine was a Sullivan but from Limerick. Thanks again:)

Name: Maurice Sullivan Year of Registration: 1855 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Marylebone (1837-1901) County: London, Middlesex Volume: 1a Page: 391 (click to see others on page) again no age of death given...........the kids could have all had tb or something

The Ego

The Ego Report 2 May 2006 21:11

it might be worth seeing if there are deaths of the others in the same year..........the 2 i have given are the only ones between 1851 and 1861 in london

Unknown Report 2 May 2006 21:16

There are actually two Daniels and a John in the same quarter and district as the Maurice in St Olave. Will have a look at the Marylebone ones. Trouble is apart from the Maurice, they're all fairly common Irish names. Thanks Alter Only thing is, I have witnesses Daniel and Elizabeth Sullivan at Mary's marriage in January 1861. I've checked out the bride's address for the marriage but none of them are there or around. (Charles Street, Shoreditch)

Sarah Maria Sullivan Year of Registration: 1852 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Marylebone (1837-1901) County: London, Middlesex Volume: 1a Page: 246 (click to see others on page) from the same district as one of the maurice entries in 1855 another non aged death

The Ego

The Ego Report 2 May 2006 21:24

coincidentally if both deaths are linked they and are your family then they also both occured when each child was about 10 years old, perhaps a time when vulnerable?

mmm,London isnt my strongest area, with regards districts etc being a northerner...!

Unknown Report 2 May 2006 21:27

Thanks Alter - I think when funds allow I'm going to have to take the plunge and try the death certs for Maurice. There is also a Morris who died in Strand (I think almost neighbouring Holborn?) in 1856.

Aaaaahhhh....my mate has just checked her 1861 discs and St Peters Street & Clarks Court aren't there so it looks like it might well be the census that's missing and not my family. Sorry if that's wasted anyone's time. It certainly looks like a few of them probably died between 1851 and 1861 though. I think this might (just might:)) be Mary on the 1871 2 Eagle Place, St James Clerkenwell Mary Sullivan Mother widow 54 laundress Kerry Daniel son widower 30 travellers porter London Catherine daughter 18 artificial florist London
