Wow! I never thought the tips board could be such fun! Thanks Snowdrops for giving us all such a laugh and thanks too to Glen Nell and Marion for their robust candidacy. We seem to have confused a few people from beyond our constituences.... I got a concerned e-mail from an Australian GR member who thought it was about the election currently taking place in Queensland! They should be so lucky! I suppose we should also thank GR themselves for not pulling all those off-topic threads. We're very naughty, but then politics is a dangerous game. Now it's back to serious genealogy.

I second that !.............During 2 days of solid research, it was a welcome relief to read the thread from time to time. Far from being 'off topic' I think this is just the sort of light hearted banter that is needed to lift the mood whilst searching for people who don't want to be found. Mags

Morning Paul et al Glad you enjoyed the contest - shame there wasn't an outright winner, or perhaps justice prevailed afterall. Must admit I've just this minute got up and boy do I have a sore head. Thanks to everyone for rallying round the candidates in such a friendly welcoming manner and for joining in so wholeheartedly. THREE CHEERS FOR YOU ALL!! .

I should like to offer my profuse thanks firstly to the Lady Snowdrop, and to the gentlemen concerned - the candidate named Paul Barton and the one named Glen in Tinsel Knickers - and, of course, the ''lady'' from centuries ahead of me, the in/famous actress and orange-seller Nell Gwynne - for such an enjoyable contest, and indeed a fun-filled evening. ... :-) And to the many kind people who cast their votes in my direction, and said such kind things - I thank you all ... :-) ** still pondering why the votes from the 523 nuns were not included ... nor all of BC's neighbours ... :-) **

Hi Everyone!!! It was my sons birthday yesterday so I didn't get on the boards all day and looks like I missed all the fun. I thought I would check this morning and I can't find the Mascot thread?? Where is it? I want to see what I missed!!! (It must be my nosey erm I mean curious streak) Deb

Confusion reigneth, methinks.

Well it appears there may have been a recount after the recount,the last i heard was i may have edged the result by one vote,and arrived back at party HQ in the open topped wheelbarrow to a warm welcome in the small hours. After recently returning to the boards i am slightly suprised that my future is uncertain. Glen

Well, in the results thread, there is:- '' ... I am declaring this vote a 3-way tie. You can all three decide between you whether you would like to: a) Have a 4 month stint each as Board Mascot b) Share the year equally and at the same time between you or c) da da da ................ hold another election .... YAY!!!! But please, tell me tomorrow - I'm off to bed now.... '' and '' ... the result is Glen = 11 Paul = 12 Nell and Marion = 14 Therefore, Nell and Marion are the Tips board mascots. ... '' and '' ... have now counted three times and got three different results ... ''

I have decided to be magnanimous to my opponents and am now wearing green tights with tinsel knickers on top and have stuffed some oranges down them. I thought my trenchcoat would maintain a little modesty but unfortunately I was caught by Tesco's store security at the fruit and veg section and they wouldn't accept my explanation that it was a political statement.
