For 1911 go here: http://www(.)yourfamilytreemag(.)co(.)uk/page/yft?entry=what_does_a_1911_census (remove brackets) Also if anybody is interested in hearing about ways of earning money from genealogy - you may find this of interest: There is a 2 hour talk at the SoG on Saturday (6 January). It's about how to earn a living (or a little bit of cash at least) in genealogy. http://www(.)sog.org.uk/events/pdf/070106am_careers_in_gen.pdf Cheers, Horatia

Oooh Horatia... Talk about dangle a carrot! How very exciting... I understand that there is sensitive info but for me personally, I am the only living relation on my maternal side and to have to wait...... drives me mad, Must keep everything crossed for info in 2009! Lady of the Manor

I would just love to see that census now it would knock down a hell of a wall for me that wont be possible till this census is available. I do think its a bit daft having to wait so long as all the relatives I want to see on these census's are long gone. Even my Aunts that were born in the 1920's are now gone. Do think £45 is quite a lot of money to do 1 search of an address tho. Oh well have to wait and see I suppose.

Hi Folks, Glad you are enjoying the preview! This is a bit of scoop for Your Family Tree magazine. They are the first family history magazine to show this material. When they get anything exciting they put it on their website rather than make readers wait until the next edition of the magazine. Once you have the image saved to your computer you can really study it in detail and it gives you a good idea of what we have in store for 2009 when much of the census will start coming online. This gradual release is a good idea because it should prevent the website crashing (hopefully) as it did for the 1901 census release! :-) Cheers, Horatia

Hi Horatia Thanks for this. I kept my fingers crossed just in case the example was one of my lot - how sad am I? I think I'm having a menopausal moment - but - where is the address? Jill

Thank you Horatia... That's wonderful and very exciting! Brilliant! Sandra. xxx

Horatia Report 4 Jan 2007 13:43

Under the signature it gives postal address but it just says Bottesford, Notts. However, perhaps we aren't seeing all there is to see at the moment but this page gives you an idea of some of the questions asked. However, this type of information displayed in this example will start coming online from 2009 (gradually). Cheers, Horatia

I wonder what the words 'Neither Confirm Nor Deny' at the right hand side of the page mean?

Horatia

Horatia Report 4 Jan 2007 15:03

For the address you'll have to walk round the back of your computer monitor - it's on the back of the form! ;-) Cheers, Horatia

Thanks for that Horatio Have printed it off to show off to a friend! Pauline

Horatia Report 4 Jan 2007 15:50

On good authority I've been told: 'The words 'Neither confirm or Deny' simply block out the columns that may contain the details- Blind, deaf, dumb or the details Lunatic, Imbecile or Feeble-minded. The National Archives consider that these details would have been personal and private in 1911, I think everyone in the neighbourhood would know each and every one who could possibly be classed in one of these terms.' Cheers, Horatia

The children born to this marriage and those who have died could be very useful. Bob

Pauline Report 4 Jan 2007 15:56

I like the fact that one column shows how long the present marriage has lasted, fantastic info for we genealogists!

Sorry didnt see your thread about this, I was just going to add it here. You beat me to it. I have put in on the General board. Good news though, very interesting, not sure if I am that desperate to pay £45 to obtain the info now. Thanks for putting this up. Trish
