I have an Elsie Sproat b1912 Sheffield died 1929 Shefffield Mothers name Edgar. the only Sproats in Sheffield (I believe) in 1901 was a James and Mary from Wigton and Allerby Cumberland with son Stanley b c1896. Marriages in Wigton in March 1896 include Mary Edgar and James Sproat. there is a big gap between 1896 and 1912 ...could these be her parents and are there any more children. Also altho' I can find Mary in Cumberland I can't find James. Can anyone help please Jacqui

There's only one marriage for an Edgar to a Sproat so that has to be them. Rose

To find out if James and Mary had more kids you'll need to wait until the 1911 census comes out. If they stayed in Sheffield until then I don't see any births. Rose
