It says this in the site: Tips on How to Search for Your Ancestor Search for Children of the Same Parents To search for children of the same parents, enter: The father’s first and last name. The mother’s first name (the mother’s last name is optional). |

When you find one child, click on the batch number at the bottom of the page. On the new screen that comes up, type in last name and father's and mother's first names. |

I find using the batch no. is really usefull. When you find one child click on the batch no. at the bottom and then just insert the surname. It will give you everyone of that name baptised in the same Parish. Good for finding the whole family not just siblings. You can do the same for marriages and deaths too. Good luck dizzy |

Hi Dizzy, Thanks for the tip about being able to find people who were christened by selecting the serial number. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but every time I select the serial number and type in the surname, no other records appear; yet I know that there are other people in the same family who were christened at the same church. Can you please help? Regards Rachel |

Rachel, somewhere near the Batch number there should be an indication of what dates that batch covers. I have come across a few churches where the registers seem to have been filmed in lots of small sections so that each batch number only covers a couple of years in which case the rest of the family could well be under different numbers. If you check the Hugh Wallis site you may be able to find all the batch numbers for the church you are searching. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.*com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle (remove the *) |

I often search by just BATCH NO. and I don't enter any surname. This is useful in a parish where you might have multiple surnames of interest. I have lots of ancestors in Portsea - three main branches - so I can search by batch number. See also : http://freepages*genealogy*rootsweb*com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers*htm#Menu Replace * by . I have had much more success when using this method. |
