If Sarah married John Simon, why does she appear on all censuses under the name Hounslow? Something doesn't tally there............... Reg

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but that doesn't help with finding out who Sarah's husband was. It only confirms that the family found on censuses is the correct one. This, however, may be of more use......Sarah's death (probably). The cert should say 'widow of............' thus giving you his forename, which is a step further for you Name: Sarah Hounslow Year of Registration: 1864 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Thame County: Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire Volume: 3a Page: 372 Reg

Joyce Sarah's grandchildren are named Bonner, that means Louisa is her daughter..............what Sarah's maiden name was is anybody's guess. See my advice above.............. Reg

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 13 Apr 2007 10:43

And in 1841...........plus Sarah Louisa Bonner abt 1816 Oxfordshire, England Thame Oxfordshire Louisa Bonner abt 1837 Oxfordshire, England Thame Oxfordshire Rowland Bonner abt 1839 Oxfordshire, England Thame Oxfordshire Willm Bonner abt 1821 Oxfordshire, England Thame Oxfordshire Sarah Houndshaw abt 1776 Oxfordshire, England Thame Oxfordshire Reg

ErikaH Report 13 Apr 2007 10:42

You will need to access parish records to find Louisa's baptism, which should tell you her father's name. Then you can look for his marriage to Sarah..........again in parish records. Reg

The 1842 marriage wouldn't be her............if she had grandchildren in 1861, her maiden name in 1842 would not have been Hounslow........... Reg

Heather

Heather Report 13 Apr 2007 10:34

Sorry is it me? - but if she were Sarah Hounslow in 1861 when she was married and a granny then Hounslow is her married name, not her maiden name - the marriage shown is a maiden Sarah Hounslow.
