If a person had two children not her husbands in the 1940,s early 50,s would she have put them in her maiden name husbands name or partners name please. Thanks ..

It would all depend on her circumstances. If she was living with her partner, then either her maiden name or his name would be the obvious guess. Deb:)

June they are usually registered in their mothers maiden name but if their father went to the registry office with her to register their births then he could have his name put on the certificate. My mum was registered in grans married name. As far as I'm aware a baby born to a married woman is assumed to be the child of that union. My mother was later adopted by her birth father and mother once they were free to marry.
