My mum was registered in grans married name. As far as I'm aware a baby born to a married woman is assumed to be the child of that union. My mother was later adopted by her birth father and mother once they were free to marry.

June they are usually registered in their mothers maiden name but if their father went to the registry office with her to register their births then he could have his name put on the certificate. If you need some help searching then send me some details in a PM and I will see if I can help. Georgina.

It would all depend on her circumstances. If she was living with her partner, then either her maiden name or his name would be the obvious guess. Deb:)
