Hi Thank you all for your help i have copies of the both the 1891 census and the 1901 census The 1901 census - Titchfield 119 West Street Andrew Fry Head Married age 39 (labourer Bricklayer) born Titchfield Alice Fry Wife Married age 37 (born in Fareham) Beatrice Pack Step Daugh age 15 (born in Titchfield) William Pack Step Son age 13 (born in Emsworth) Frederick Pack Step Son age 10 (born in Cowplain) George Fry age 5 (born in Tichfield) Florence Fry age 3 (born in Tichfield) The 1891 Census Cowplain 133 Brickyard William Pack Head Married age 25 (born in Titchfield) Brickmaker Alice Pack Wife Married age 29 (born in Fareham) Beatrice Pack age 5 (born in Fareham) William Pack age 2 (born in Emsworth) Also further information Frederick Pack Married Matilda Chase 18th Jan 1913 in Brighton at the Register Office at the time Frederick was a Driver in the RFA and lived at the Barracks Preston - Brighton his fathers details are marked as unknown. |

Could this be the death registration of Frederick's father? Deaths Sep 1892 Pack William 26 Portsea 2b 260 Maybe William was ill and the registration of birth was overlooked.....or may be it is on the local index but never made it to the master GRO copy. I would guess that after she was widowed, Alice returned to her home area, Titchfield, and married again near there. Marriages Jun 1895 Fry Andrew Fareham 2b 1083 Pack Alice Fareham 2b 1083 You might find Frederick's baptism record in Titchfield registers with later children. Gwyn |

I would look for a possible baptism. Records will be in Winchester at the Hampshire Record Office. I'm not sure if Cowplain had it's own church, or whether you'd find it under Catherington parish. Gwyn |

The only Frederick born around 1891 in Cowplain is not a Pack?? The Isle of Wight has a good website of BMD's. That one for Frederick John Peck in 1891 gives other surname as Gibbs. (It's usually mother's maiden name) I just google 'isle of wight births' to find website. Margaret |

Hi can anyone give me a few tips on how to get hold of a birth certificate or evidence of birth I am unable to track down a birth Certificate for My Great Grandfather Frederick John Pack born in 1891 i have checked the 1901 census and have found out he was born in Cowplain. He had other brothers and sisters who have all been registered - i have exhausted all the birth records without success can anyone advise me or give me tips on what to do next Thanks Claire |
