Robert France 1821 was baptised 11 Aug 1821 died 1889 Astley, Leigh, Lancashire. Married Twice Firstly to Betty Maiden Name Unknown, second wife was Margaret Howard. Can anyone tell me what Betty's Maiden Name was. Roberts Mother was Bridget France 10/12/1791 Bedford, Leigh, Lancashire. |

Well my knowledge of Lancashire isn't good at all but there is an Elizabeth Mann appearing on this list with Robert France. Doesn't mean he married here though; but Betty is short for Elizabeth so this is just a wild guess! There was a Betty Mann baptised in Astley in 1821, which ties in with the age/place for your Betty (from the 1851 census): BETTY MANN Christening: 11 FEB 1821 Astley, Lancashire, England Father: CHARLES MANN Mother: ELEN Batch No: C036631 So the marriage that Horatio found above seems quite possible. Also, two of your Robert & Betty's children were called Charles & Ellen!
