Strange isn't it? After bashing my head for a while looking for leads via Ancestry for my McGuffie family I have had a bit of a break from searching. Come back on tonight and found my McGuffie family in the Scot 1851census under Guffie and 1841 census under Griffie. Also I've made a link to previous censuses for my Mathieson family. Whoo hoo! I originally was looking for help in locating 'Tromgery Park, Scotland' but think this should be Irongray. It's funny how you get blinkered when trying so hard and a little break from searching seems to be all that is needed to make progress. I have yet to properly investigate the Scotlandspeople site. Do those of you who use it find it easy to navigate?

That always happens doesnt it? You search and search and search and you cant find them. You take a little break before going back to look for them and bam, there they are. I find Scotlandspeople an easy site to search. In the beginning i didnt usually get searches 100% right so would usually waste a couple of credits but once you get the hang of it, it should be no problem. Take your time with the searches and for births and marriages before 1875 use IGI to help you narrow down the time scale/location/date ect. If you do need a hand navigating the site let us know. I'm sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction :) Mhairi
